~~ <br />MINUTES OF THE M&ETIIfG OF THE COi;}IQCIL <br />OF THB CITX OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MARCH 21, 1978 <br />Present: President Deweq Limpert, Councilmen Beaty, Boehmer, Logan, Petrigac, <br />Beringer, Sharpe, Wilamosky. <br />Also present : I~tyor Robert S~rietyniowski, Law Director Michael Gareatu, Finance <br />Director Robert Erc-~, Safety Director gene Petre, Service Director <br />Joseph Corrigan, City ~gineer Ronald Zurawski, Clerk of Council Mora Hill. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Limpert at 8:00 P.M. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of March 7, 1978, were approved as read. <br />Mayor Swiet~tio~rski reported: 1) submits for Council approval appointment of <br />Mr. Richard Fiebig to po~aition of R~acreation Director. <br />Service Director Corrigan reported: 1) Service Department in the last ten days <br />has made treaisndous strides with respect to the problem of piled up snow with help <br />from the weather. <br />City Engineer Zurawski reported: 1) the Claque Road project is under construction <br />and should be completed in about tWO weeks depending on cooperation from the weather. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) Safety Director and Law Director went to pre-trial <br />today regarding the Warchol case (baseballs hitting the side of a house). Were <br />unable to resolve the problems satisfactorily so the matter has been set for tidal <br />May 3, 1978; <br />2) with respect to the Burkett Case - were supposed to receive notification on-the <br />Class Action and as of yet have not received notification; <br />3) the Board of Tax Appeals sustained the position the Gity had taken with respect <br />to one of the tax cases, where the City had requested an increase and after filing <br />tax deadline the propertq ow~xer had req~ated a decrease. Their claim was rejected <br />because they had filed their claim for decrease after the filing deadline. <br />Safety Director Petre reported: 1) final sale has been made for the used radio <br />equipment that was in possession of the Fire': .partment. In receipt of agreement <br />and check for $85. from City of 0].msted Falls; <br />2)the Police Department report for January and February indicates a significant <br />decrease in burglaries over a like period in 1977; and a decrease in areas of ~ <br />traffic accidents; shoplifting, frauds and vandalism. Have had some increase in <br />areas of auto thefts, narcotic investigations and family trouble; <br />3) regarding the Recreation Department - all selections have been made in regard <br />to playground supervision and looking forward to an exciting season in our park <br />system. <br />Mrs. Beringer, Chairman Streets & Drainage Committee, reported due to the inclement <br />weather the Committee did not have a chance to tour the streets for the resurfacing <br />program; hoxever, intend to do so within the next few days and would like to <br />incorporate in the budget ordinance the streets to be repaired this year. <br />Mrs. Petrigac, Chairman Environmental Control Committee, reported: 1) Committee met <br />on March 8th with all members present to discuss Ord. No. 77-195 - the noise ordinance. <br />Committee went over ordinance line by line also using input from a letter from <br />Chief Taylor with his suggestions.
