MINtJTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MAY 17, 1983 <br />Present: President James Boehmer, Councilmen Bierman, Logan, McKay, Petrigac, <br />Saringer, Wilamosky, Woerpel. <br />Also present: Mayor Robert Swietyniowski, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boy1e, Service Director Joseph Corrigan, Clerk of <br />Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Boehmer at 8:05 P.M. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Minutes of Special Council Aseeting of May 2, 1983, were approved. <br />Minutes of Regular Council Meeting of Ma.y 3, 1983, were approved. <br />Minutes of Special Council Meeting of May 10, 1983, were approved. <br />Before moving into reports, President Boehmer announced that Ordinance No. 83-45, <br />establishing compensation for administrative and maintenance personnel of the Municipal <br />Bus Line; Ordinance No. 83-46, establishing compensation for a1Z hourly employees of <br />the Municipal Bus Line; and Ordinance No. 83-62, establishing the complement of the <br />Parks and Recreation Department and affixing the compeasation thereof, have been re- <br />moved from tonight's agenda. Also, Ordinance No. 82-150, contracting for the aervices <br />of a consultant to the Landmarks Commission; Ordinance No. 83-63, authorizing the <br />demolition or removal of a single family dwell and detached garage loested at <br />30790 Lorain Road; Resolution No. 83-66, authorizing the Landmarks Commission to <br />apply to the Ohio Historic Preservation Office for a grant; Resolution No. 83-67, <br />authorizing the Mayor to apply for a Federal Grant for rehabilitation and development <br />in North Olmsted Park; and Resolution No. 83-68, authorizing the Mayor to apply for a <br />Federal Grant for rehabilitation and development of ornamental tree plantings, have <br />been added to tonight's agenda. <br />Mayor Swietyniowski introdueed Recreation Complex Manager, Jerry Couts, and Assistant <br />Manager, Tom Fattler, who showed a slide presentation entitled "1983 Summer Schedule <br />of Events". <br />Service Director Corrigan reported: 1) Board of Control met Tuesday, May lOth, and <br />awards were made for the fuel tanks and pump islands for the Bus and Service Garage; <br />for asphalt, paint and stone for the Summer Road Prograrn. <br />2) Negotiations are continuing with AFSCME, District 78, relative to a new two year <br />contract with Service Department employees. <br />Finance Director Boyle reported: 1) Audit hearing with the Regional Transit Authority <br />was held last week. A couple of expenditures were disputed: advertising; certain <br />capital repairs the City expensed last year that they wanted rated over aseven year <br />period - it is now down to a three year period; and an expense incurred last year with <br />John David Jones on the old Bus Garage. Also, in doing our own accounting of the Bus <br />System, has discovered quite a bit of money that has never been transferred over to the <br />t ng concluded prior to next Council Meeting. That money will be eapensed <br />from Bus and receipted into the General Fund before the end of this month. Also dis- <br />puted some work?ns' compensation claims and it resulted in approximately $I200 being <br />transferred to the General Fund. <br />? General Fund as an administrative expense.
