It was ='ecmtly <br />deCermined that two or three cu3.verte irx the project area have heen deterioratin8 and <br />shou2d be replaced. It was suggested that the replacement of thase cuiverts be fn- <br />cluded c$ithin the scape of the current project. In this way, the xeplacement cvlve=ts <br />can be €inanced 75% federally and 25% by the County. The alteraat#ve was to cc:ntfnue <br />the praject the way it ie eurrently designed and at some later goint the Gity wauld <br />bQ required to replace the eulverta at 1007; City cost, Citq Enginser made the deter- <br />minatian that the beat alternative fer the City caas to spend the extra time and in- <br />clude tfieae culvert replacenents within the scope of the cuxrent project. In v3ew of the <br />fact tt?at in manq sectians of Clagus Road thexe is an abundance of uaderground util.i- <br />ties, a decisian was made to use the exiaCinR storm sewez on the west sfde af the <br />raad. <br />Finance Director Bayle reporteda 1) As reported at last Council Meeting, City is <br />dtaaging its checking acctrimts orver to WA accounts in osder to gain interest ca the <br />balaaces. Pdational City Unk did an analysis of the City's checlcing accaunt aat+d <br />anticipate the City wili eara approximately $40,004 additianal 3.nterest duriag 3983 <br />just on the gloating balance. <br />2) Regianal Tncctme Tax hae advised that all the tax fosms have gone out. <br />Law Director Gareau xeported: 1) FTith respect to the D'Aiuto Case, dealing wl.Ch the <br />law suit xelative t4 a C3ty e t for a sanitary serer, Law b#.xscto.r had alreadg <br />reported that the case was originally tried back in the early 1970°s and the plsintiff, <br />who was D'Aiuto, dismis"d the case even though it had been heard by an avbitrativn <br />panel. Law D3rector has filed a wtian to reopen the ori$inal case €or the lmrpoae <br />of hav3.ng the court matce certa3a rulinge thAt Cheq never did make. Also has fil.ed a <br />motion in the teew case to stay praeeedings to atraighten out the proeedural problsms <br />4D in the original case. <br />2) Pointed out to Council that the Charter requires that the salarq for Gc?mcil-at- <br />Large be set at least 30 c3ays priar to the filing date. Relieves the filing date <br />to be April lth, therefore salarq must be aet by Mitrch 7th.
