MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JANUARY 17, 1984 <br />Present: President James Boehmer, Councilmen Bierman, O'Grady, Petrigac, <br />Rademaker, Saringer, Ta11on,Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Robert Swietyniowski, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Safety Director Eugene Petre, Service <br />Director Joseph Corrigan, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Boehmer at 8:00 P.M. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Minutes of the Council Meeting of January 3, 1984, were approved.. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance No. 84-2, vacating North Olmsted Court, <br />was being added to tonight's agenda. <br />Mayor Swietyniowski recommended approval of Betty Lord and Gloria Sell to serve <br />on the Landmarks Commission for the term ending December 31, ]_985. <br />Mrs. Saringer moved Council approve the Mayor's appointment of Betty Lord and <br />Gloria Sell, to serve on the Landmarks Commission for the term ending December 31, <br />1985, second by Mrs. Petrigac, unanimously approved. <br />Finance Director Boyle reported: 1) The month of December and the year of 1983 <br />have been closed; reports are presently at the printers and should be ready some- <br />time next week. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) Had previously filed a motion to dismiss the <br />Romp "rezoning" Case. In response to this motion; there was a brief in opposition; <br />a new law suit was filed within the last couple of days - this is a declaratory <br />judgment action. Plaintiffs have not asked that the present zoning be declared <br />unconstitutional as applied but simply indicated that Council had failed to act and <br />have asked the Court to issue an order to have Council legislate a rezoning of the <br />parcel. Law Director will file a motion to dismiss in this case. <br />Safety Director Petre reported; 1) Captain Tinics, North Olmsted Fire Department, <br />has retired; promotional examination was given on January 3rd; results will be <br />announced in the next seven to ten days. <br />2) Parks and Recreation Commission met January 10th. Income for 1983 was $820,097; <br />anticipate between ten and twelve thousand dollar carryover. A committee was formed, <br />to be chaired by Mr. Ted Andrews, for the beautification of the Complex between the <br />parking lot and the main drive, <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Intra-Governmental Relations and Legislation Committee re- <br />ported: 1) Recreation Commission met on January 10th. Election of officers was as <br />follows: Tim O'Rourke, Chairman; Janet Saringer, Vice Chairman, and Pat Fish, Secretary, <br />Tom Stevens, Soft Ball Association, discussed upgrading the diamonds, especially <br />diamond No. 4. The association will assume all the costs. Commission will get back <br />to him in a month or so. Tom Chima, Director of the Ohio Lottery Commission, gave a <br />
