,~r
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE .COUNCIL
OF .THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
NOVEMBER 17, 1987
Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilmen Bohlman, Lackey, O'Grady,
Rademaker, Tallon, Wilamosky.
Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gateau, Finance
Director Edward Boyle, Glerk of Council Florence Campbell..
Absent: Councilman McKay,
Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:05 P.M., in, Council
Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road.
Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council. in .reciting
the Pledge of Allegiance to .the Flag.
Minutes of Council Meeting of November 4, 1987, were approved.
Mayor Petrigac reported: 1) North Olmsted Kiwanis is serving .Thanksgiving
Dinner on Thanksgiving Day to senior citizens who are alone or unable to
prepare a dinner; reservations will be made through the Senior Center for
the dinner which will be held at Mike O'Grady's Party Center,
2) Service Director Noble, City Engineer Boyer, Mike Benza and Mayor Petrigac
attended a meeting with the County Engineer's Department to discuss several
projects and funding for same.. Two projects for which outside funding is
anticipated are the Porter Road Reconstruction and McKenzie Raad Gulvert, the
latter with a possible 50~ match. Porter Road can. be done several ways: with
State M Funds, which is an 85~, as well as County 50~. Complete report was
given at the council committee meeting the other night,
3) As requested by President Saringer, a report on use of city employees and
equipment for Issue 24 was given to her. The report clearly establishes that
employees utilized their own time in the questioned activities with the ex-
ception of making the sign. It has not been established whether or not the
sign was in violation; Mayor assumes that all questions on this matter have
now been answered. This administration has always .tried to conduct itself
within the letter of the law in all areas and will continue to do so. If an
employee, because of his eagerness to support a most needed. city tax. issue,
infringed upon the laws, .the administration will most certainly take action
appropriate to that infringement, however, at this point, there has been. no
infringement verified.
4) Tom Terbrack, Ken Mues, Rick Noble, Mike Gateau and Mayor met last week
with the negotiating team from RTA and Maple Heights to begin negotiations
for a new contract; plan to meet most Thursday afternoons throughout November
and December.
5) Meeting was held with Director Wegrich, Cleveland Water Department and
Mr. Cedroni, Commissioner of Cleveland Water Department, Service Director Noble,
City Engineer Boyer and Mayor Petrigac to discuss the Cook Road water line.
Discussed five different options and will be looking to outside entities for
some of the funding for the project; will report further to Council as plans
proceed.
