MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTII~IBER 15, 1987 <br />Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilmen Bohlman, Lackey, McKay, <br />O'Grady, Tallon, Wilamosky. (Mr. Tallon present at 9 P.M.) <br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Clerk of <br />Council Florence Campbell. <br />Absent: Councilman Rademaker. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:15 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of the Council Meeting of September 1, 1987, were approved as <br />corrected: Page 6, Paragraph 3, name corrected to read "Tsipis". <br />Mayor Petrigac reported: 1) Final report for the GCRTA Suburban Cost Compar- <br />ison Study has arrived. Mayor, Law Director and NOMBL officials will review <br />and release their findings at a later date. <br />2) Mayor will meet with Jack Smith and Dick Urban, from the Stoneybrook/ <br />Deerfield Area on Friday, the 18th of September. <br />3) Michelle Royer, Miss USA, will make an appearance at the Manor Care Nursing <br />Home on Monday, September 21st, at 2:30 P.M. <br />4) Senior Citizens' Day is Friday, September 25th; Senior. Center is sponsoring <br />a day of festivities, including a catered luncheon; reservations required. <br />5) Thursday, September 17th, at 4 o'clock, marks two hundred years exactly for <br />the signing of the Constitution of the United States. Bells and chimes will be <br />rung in North Olmsted to participate in the celebration, "Bells Across America". <br />6) Michael Benza and Associates have been hired as consulting engineers and <br />have assigned Mr. Tom Boyer to the Engineering Department. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) The Minnie Crumbley decision has been ad- <br />versely decided against the city. Is conferring with the insurance company's <br />legal counsel, who basically tried the case, as well as Mrs. Crumbley's <br />attorney to determine the final figures with respect to back wages, attorney's <br />fee and damages. <br />2) City has also received an adverse decision in the Cooper Case. City initially <br />lost the case in the district court; took it up to the Court of Appeals and re- <br />ceived a reversal. Court of Appeals remanded it, instructing the judge to look <br />at certain issues, and then decide the case again. Is not certain the judge <br />did look at the issues as the court instructed since she has decided adversely <br />again. After conferring with council, and on the Law Director's recommendation, <br />the city will appeal this case to the Sixth Circuit Court. <br />
