°, <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JUNE 2, 1987 <br />Present; President Janet Saringer, Councilmen Bohlmann, Lackey, McKay, <br />O'Grady, Rademaker, Tallon, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Xvonne Petrigac, Finance Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of <br />Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:00 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of the Council Meeting of May 19, 1987, were approved. <br />Mayor Petrigac reported: I) Will be meeting with Madeline Brookshire and <br />Julia Brown to determine a fitting inscription and engraving. the name of <br />Martin Supple on the city's memorial marker. Community Council is going to <br />approach the Bicentennial Committee to see if they will donate the money left <br />in the Memorial Fund for the engraving and perhaps create a garden with benches <br />in the memorial marker area at North Olmsted ,Park. Will be meeting again in <br />a couple of weeks to discuss further; any interested council member is invited <br />to be in attendance. <br />2) Wednesday, May 27th, Mayor and Safety Director met with members of the <br />Architectural Review Commission, Building Board of Appeals, Board of Zoning and <br />Planning Commission to discuss goals and directions for the boards and commissions <br />as well as for the. city. Safety Director and Mayor feel there are areas that can <br />be improved to provide for more efficient operation within the city. All feel <br />the need for the administration to hire a planner. Safety Director and Mayor will <br />meet within the next few months to address some of the comments made by the <br />commission members; plan to have another meeting this Fall and will notify council <br />of the date. <br />3) The Mayors and Managers Association is looking into joining an OML Insurance <br />Plan which would cover general liability, auto liability, law enforcement and <br />public officials liability. A seminar will be held this weekend and more in- <br />formation will be forwarded to the Mayor's office. <br />4) Mayors and Managers will hire a consultant to witness on the economic excess <br />capacity in the pending CEI rate increase. The Coalition of Northern Ohio <br />Communities needs to write a contract with the Energy Resource Council; total <br />cost is $25,000; North Olmsted is being asked to contribute $500. Would ask <br />the President of Council to poll council and see if they approve of this contribution. <br />5) Joseph Glueck has retired from the Bus Department after 38 years of service; <br />Sergeant Al Schmitz will be retiring from the Pol-ice Department this month; employees <br />will be attending the Cleveland Indian's game on June 26th; money must be in by <br />June 5th. <br />6) A Five Year Financial Plan was given to the council, at which time council stated <br />that the Mayor should advise of her intent. On May 18th, council was given a <br />detailed report of the proposed tax increase and was asked for its input. After <br />reading several comments in the newspapers, Mayor suggested a meeting with council <br />to discuss some of the comments and see if a joint effort could be made by both <br />council and the administration. President of Council forwarded a memo stating <br />that the Mayor should introduce her legislation and it would be referred to the <br /> <br />
