,.._ F «. ~„ MINUTES OF THE MEETING Ok' THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF .NORTH OLMSTED JANUARY 20, 1987 Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilmen Lackey, Logan, McKay, O`Grady, Rademaker, Tallon, Wilamosky. Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8110 P.M., in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road. Members of the audience were invited to join. Members of Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes of Council Meeting of January 6, 1987, were approved. Mayor Petrigac reported; 1) Thanked Ken Campbell for his assistance at the last newspaper and aluminum collection; his help was most appreciated, 2) The administration will be meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and the schools to plan activities for the bi-centennial celebration of the northwest ordinance; the State of Ohio being one of the first states, Mayor will be assembling a committee; anyone interested in serving should contact the Mayor's off ice . 3) On Thursday, will be meeting to review th.e methodology comparison of costs and services of the Bus Line; will be meeting with RTA and Maple Heights. 4) Will be scheduling a TV Advisory Board Meeting to talk about a possible increase in franchise fees, Has requested a legal opinion from the Law Director with respect to .this increase.. Would appreciate council's early response confirming its appointment to this board. 5) Brookpark Road bridge is closed and is creating some traffic congestion. 6) A Plain Dealer article this morning stated that job applications now being taken through cities must have an attached form providing such information as naturalization; City of North Olmsted has already implemented this procedure. 7) Commended Firemen Jay Powers and David Mortach for their rescue of a 29 year old man from afire on January 18th. Alarm. was received at 8:55; firemen arrived on the scene at 8:56 and. fire was out within a 10/12 minute span. The fire- fighters did an outstanding job. 8) Mr. Logan had requested the administration to go back through. BZD Committee reports for 1979/80 to research a letter with respect to the Zayre`s sign. The only reference found dealt with the pole sign. Would appreciate further in- formation from Mr. Logan. 9) Congratulated Service Director Noble on his election. as Vice~President of the Service Directors' Associaton; this is quite impressive since Mr. Noble has only been a Service Director for one year. 10) AFS Program is 40 years old throughout the country; 20 years old in North Olmsted, Introduced Dixie Phillips, AFS Coordinator and asked her to intro- a? duce the AFS students now vising North Olmsted; council recognized Ms, Phillips and AFS students Hilde Strand, Meladie Aine and Huang Zhi Tao, ,.,,~ ~a _ .~.., , -
