,.._ <br />F «. <br />~„ <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING Ok' THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF .NORTH OLMSTED <br />JANUARY 20, 1987 <br />Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilmen Lackey, Logan, McKay, <br />O`Grady, Rademaker, Tallon, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8110 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join. Members of Council in reciting <br />the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of January 6, 1987, were approved. <br />Mayor Petrigac reported; 1) Thanked Ken Campbell for his assistance at the <br />last newspaper and aluminum collection; his help was most appreciated, <br />2) The administration will be meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and the <br />schools to plan activities for the bi-centennial celebration of the northwest <br />ordinance; the State of Ohio being one of the first states, Mayor will be <br />assembling a committee; anyone interested in serving should contact the Mayor's <br />off ice . <br />3) On Thursday, will be meeting to review th.e methodology comparison of costs and <br />services of the Bus Line; will be meeting with RTA and Maple Heights. <br />4) Will be scheduling a TV Advisory Board Meeting to talk about a possible <br />increase in franchise fees, Has requested a legal opinion from the Law Director <br />with respect to .this increase.. Would appreciate council's early response <br />confirming its appointment to this board. <br />5) Brookpark Road bridge is closed and is creating some traffic congestion. <br />6) A Plain Dealer article this morning stated that job applications now being <br />taken through cities must have an attached form providing such information as <br />naturalization; City of North Olmsted has already implemented this procedure. <br />7) Commended Firemen Jay Powers and David Mortach for their rescue of a 29 year <br />old man from afire on January 18th. Alarm. was received at 8:55; firemen arrived <br />on the scene at 8:56 and. fire was out within a 10/12 minute span. The fire- <br />fighters did an outstanding job. <br />8) Mr. Logan had requested the administration to go back through. BZD Committee <br />reports for 1979/80 to research a letter with respect to the Zayre`s sign. <br />The only reference found dealt with the pole sign. Would appreciate further in- <br />formation from Mr. Logan. <br />9) Congratulated Service Director Noble on his election. as Vice~President of the <br />Service Directors' Associaton; this is quite impressive since Mr. Noble has only <br />been a Service Director for one year. <br />10) AFS Program is 40 years old throughout the country; 20 years old in North <br />Olmsted, Introduced Dixie Phillips, AFS Coordinator and asked her to intro- <br />a? duce the AFS students now vising North Olmsted; council recognized Ms, Phillips <br />and AFS students Hilde Strand, Meladie Aine and Huang Zhi Tao, <br />,.,,~ ~a _ .~.., , - <br />
