MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JUNE 6, 1989 <br />Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilwoman Bahas, Councilmen <br />Boehmer, Bohlmann, McKay, O'Grady, Tallon, Wilamosky. <br />(Councilman Tallon present at 8:10 P.M.) <br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:00 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of May 16, 1989, were approved. <br />President Saringer announced: 1) Suspension of the rule requiring three readings <br />will be requested for Resolution No. 89-47, authorizing the Safety Director to <br />advertise for bids for emergency rescue vehicle equipment as well as for Resolu- <br />tion No. 89-49, authorizing the Service Director to advertise for bids for Phase <br />II, Deerf ield Project drainage. <br />Mayor Petrigac reported: 1) After Councilman Wilamosky's complaint that many <br />North Olmsted merchants were selling high-level phosphate detergents, Safety <br />Director Becker did some spot checking throughout the city. In a three year <br />period, April, 1986, through May, 1989, the administration found ten violations, <br />all of which were corrected. These ten violations were found after eighty-eight <br />contacts had been made during this three year period. If a person purchases a <br />high-level phosphate detergent in North Olmsted, he should bring the box of <br />detergent to the Safety Director, along with the receipt of purchase, mark the <br />box and date it as well as initial it; Safety Director will reimburse the pur- <br />chaser and handle the complaint. <br />2) Post-audit with RTA for 1988 revealed one minor discrepancy in workmens' <br />comp figures which was easily corrected. Has yet to receive the audit for <br />1987 from Arthur Young which had been promised a week and a half ago. <br />3) Has requested the County Engineering Department to do a traffic count at <br />Driscoll and Cottonwood on Dover Center Road to see if a traffic signal will be <br />required in this area. <br />4) Attended a review meeting with city consultant for Issue Two money; the Lorain <br />Road relining is Number 19 on the list. Commended County Engineer, Thomas Neff, <br />for not placing any county projects on the-list, thereby giving the suburbs a <br />better opportunity for eligibility for Issue Two monies. <br />5) Received a letter from Mayor Gaul requesting Fairview Park's invci.ice for its <br />share of the capital funds for the Wastewater Treatment Plant improvements. <br />Letter was forwarded to Finance Director, Budget and Management Director as well <br />as Finance Committee Chairman. <br />6) Senior Citizen Director, Betsy Jack, has been appointed to the Southwest <br />Suburban Advisory Council for Adults. <br />
