MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />'"~ OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />`` AUGUST 6, 2013 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Kearney, <br />Orlowski, Schumann, Smith and Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Clerk of Council Gallo Director <br />of Safety/Service Thomas, Director of Planning/Development Wenger and <br />Director of Human Resources Farver <br />Absent: Director of Finance Copfer <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The Council meeting minutes of June 4, 2013 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be passed under suspension of the rules this evening: First <br />Reading -Resolution 2013-62, Ordinance 2013-63, and Resolution 2013-64. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• The Olmsted Festival of the Arts will be this Sunday August 11, 2013 from 10:00 <br />a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Come down to Frostville and take advantage of the more than <br />50 arts, crafts and farm vendors plus a full day of music, children's activities and <br />student art. <br />• The Police Station project is out for rebid due to initial bids coming in over the <br />architect's estimate. The new bid date is Tuesday August 13, 2013. <br />• The Landmarks Commission and the Olmsted Historical Society will be hosting <br />Bill Meixner of the Society of Air Racing Historians at the Frostville Farmer's <br />Market of Saturday August 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. He will be speaking about the <br />history of the national air races with pictures and stories from the era of great <br />aviation pioneers such as Benny Howard and Jimmy Doolittle. <br />• Chief Jamie Gallagher of the North Olmsted Police Department and Chief Kelly <br />Stillman of the Rocky River Police Department have been selected to attend the <br />255`h Session of the FBI National Academy. They were chosen to attend this <br />prestigious academy after ayear-long selection process, and they will take part in <br />ten-week long executive training courses to enhance their abilities to oversee the <br />operations of their respective police departments. North Olmsted Police <br />Department has not had an officer attend the academy in over 30 years. <br />~*~° • Due to improvements made at Springvale Golf Course, they were able to meet <br />'` July's projected revenue numbers despite the rain.
