MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />,~ OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />DECEMBER 3, 1996 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, Lind, McKay, <br />Musial, Nashar, O'Grady, Saringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />Mr. McKay moved to approve the Council minutes of November 19, 1996; second by Mr. <br />Nashar; motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Boehmer announced that Ordinance No. 96-186 would be added to the agenda and <br />passed under suspension of the rules. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Boyle: 1) Mayor Boyle presented a proclamation to high school teacher Mr. <br />Robert Pierce in recognition of his work with the North Olmsted "Adopt a Family <br />Program." Mr. Pierce was instrumental in the creation of this program which combines <br />the resources of the city and the schools to assist families in need during the holiday <br />season. Since its inception in 1985, an average of sixteen to twenty families have been <br />adopted each year. The total value of giving to date has exceeded $150,000. On behalf of <br />all the residents of the city, Mayor Boyle commended Mr. Pierce for his vision and tireless <br />efforts on behalf of the less fortunate families in our community. Mr. Pierce expressed his <br />thanks for the recognition and also his appreciation to the staff members of the city <br />Human Resources Department and North Olmsted High School for their work with the <br />program. Mr. Pierce was recognized by all present. <br />2) A proclamation was presented to the North Olmsted High School Boys' Soccer Team <br />in recognition of their championship season. The North Olmsted Soccer Team, self- <br />named "The Team of Destiny," brought the third State Championship title to North <br />Olmsted with a 2-1 victory over Centerville. Head Coach Chris March accepted the <br />proclamation on behalf of assistant coaches Tom Hatfield, Sean Van Uum, Doug <br />Ziemianski, Bill Fielder, Dan Labianca and the members of the championship team Derek <br />Baker, Justin Baker, Aaron Benjamin, Tracy Dow, Ryan Erhard, Adam Erhard, Mat Gall, <br />Chris Gnandt, James Kovelan, Chris Kraft, Brian Lentz, Guillermo Mulet, Hazael Oliver, <br />
