MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED JUNE 16, 1998 Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:01 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Mr. Gareau moved to amend the agenda to add Ordinance 98-36 on second reading; second by Mr. McKay; motion passed unanimously. President Saringer announced: Ordinances 98-14, 98-29, 98-61, 98-62, 98-64, 98-65, 98-66 and 98-71 would be passed under suspension of the rule since Council will be on vacation in July; special Council meetings were held on June 8, 9 and 10 regarding amendments to the note ordinances; a public hearing will be held on August 4 at 7 p.m. with regard to the sign code. Mr. O'Grady asked for the following change in the Council minutes of May 19, 1998: his Finance Committee report on page 5, subsection a, the fourth line down, change to read: "abatement on the building for a period of 15 years..." The minutes were approved as corrected. REPORTS Mayor Musial: 1) The Claque Park reopening was successfully held on Friday, June 12. There were approximately 425 people in attendance. The high school pep band and the color guard from the North Olmsted VFW participated in the opening ceremony. It was a wonderful event, and he would like to thank all the individuals who worked so hard to make this a very successful family, fun-filled reopening of Claque Park. 2) The annual Independence Day celebration on July 4 will include: a bicycle decorating contest at 9:45 a.m.; bike parade at 10:30 a.m.; a band concert at the park gazebo at 11 a.m.; picnic games at 11:15 a.m.; opening ceremony at 11:30 a.m.; a free picnic at the park shelter at 11:45 a.m. 3) The ice rink roof bid openings were held at noon today. There were three bidders. The apparent low bid was Franklin roofing at approximately $284,000.
