-- .r <br />,,,~ MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />.,~,,, OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JUNE 2, 1999 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:08 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Saringer announced that Ordinance 99-65 would be passed under suspension of <br />the rules. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of May 5, 1999 were approved as written. <br />President Saringer asked for a moment of silence in memory of former President of <br />Council James D. Boehmer. <br />President Saringer announced that Council would be on vacation for the month of July. <br />REPORTS <br />Law Director Gareau: 1) Last week apre-trial conference was held with regard to the <br />Parcel E case. The judge has ruled that the case will be bifurcated, and the first case to be <br />tried will be the issue of the constitutionality of the zoning. The second issue will be the <br />request for compensation for temporary taking. The Law Department has retained an <br />expert with respect to city planning who will testify in the first trial. The court has also <br />made some orders with respect to the discovery cut-off and exchange of certain materials <br />and has set the first case for trial on October 25, 1999. <br />Finance Director Copfer: 1) As requested by Council, she researched the quality of life <br />and recreational opportunities survey which was done in June of 1997. The survey was <br />done by Fingerhut, Powers & Smith at a cost of $18,760, and it was funded out of the <br />General Fund and not by Recreation funds. The vendor has supplied her with the 63 <br />questions asked, the percentage responses and a copy of the report that was issued. The <br />report analyzed 17 of the 63 questions that were asked on the telephone poll. Hopefully, <br />this information will be useful in planning for future recreational needs. <br />~.. <br />I <br />
