9.. ~ <br />f <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />OCTOBER 17, 2000 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:01 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Saringer welcomed students from Mr. Meczka's 11th grade Government class <br />and asked them to stand and be recognized. <br />Mr. McKay moved to amend the agenda to include Ordinance No. 2000-143. The <br />motion was seconded by Mr. Nashar and unanimously passed. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of July 5, 2000 were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of July 18, 2000 were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the special Council meeting of August 22, 2000 were approved as written. <br />President Saringer announced that the first Council meeting in November will be held on <br />Wednesday, November 8, due to the fact that Tuesday, November 7, is election day. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) The Town Hall meeting for Wards III and IV will be held at 7:30 p.m. <br />on Wednesday, October 25, in the Springvale Heritage Room. <br />2) For the first time in eight years, all eight compressors for the chilling system at the <br />Recreation complex are working. This means that we can generate ice faster than what <br />we have in the past. <br />3) As mentioned in Mr. Jenkins' "Notes to Council," the Rec Center has a newly <br />appointed ice rink supervisor. Mr. Jenkins came forward and introduced Elizabeth Burk, <br />the new ice rink supervisor. Of the 14 applicants for that position, 8 candidates <br />interviewed with a panel of representatives from the Hockey Club and Figure Skating <br />Club, Mr. Limpert as Recreation Committee chair, Tom Stein, Todd Morgan and Mr. <br />Jenkins. Betsy stood out among all of the other candidates. She is a graduate of the <br />University of Toledo in recreational leisure and has a background in figure skating. She <br />has worked in the cities of Broadview Heights and Lakewood. Betsy was welcomed by <br />members of Council and the administration. <br />,~..~:... _ L <br />
