,~ MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />APRIL 17, 2001 <br />.~. <br />,- Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Dailey, McKay, Miller, <br />O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Absent: Council Members Kasler, Limpert, Nashar <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Saringer made the following announcements: a special Council meeting will be <br />held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 23; a public hearing will be held for Ordinance <br />No. 2000-13 (supplemental zoning of the Great Northern Mall area into the Wireless <br />Telecommunications Overlay District) at 7 p.m. on Monday, Apri123. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) Attended a recent meeting sponsored by the Cuyahoga County Health <br />Department where the West Nile Virus was discussed. This virus is primarily spread <br />through mosquitoes, and it is predicted that the virus will reach Ohio this year. The virus <br />can be fatal to those who have weak immune systems. The County Health Department <br />noted that crows and blue jays are particularly susceptible to the virus. Anyone <br />observing a dead crow or blue jay is encouraged to call the Health Department so that the <br />bird can be picked up for testing. <br />2) The Recreation Center held its annual Easter Open House on Sunday, April 8, which <br />was very successful. Of particular interest was the ribbon cutting for the event lighting. <br />3) The Easter brunch held at Springvale attracted over 300 people and was a great <br />success-the food was excellent. Kudos to Marty Young and his staff. <br />Law Director Gareau: 1) After an extensive interview process, an architect has been <br />chosen for the library. Once the agreement is prepared, it will be presented to Council for <br />their approval. <br />2) He has taken part in a number of meetings, phone calls, phone conferences, etc. <br />regarding the acquisition of the land for the library. The four residential parcels have <br />been acquired. Council authorized the Mayor to enter into an agreement for the <br /> <br />
