When hurricane
Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, Mr. Reichle rallied volunteers to help provide direct relief to
the victims. He and Mrs. Reichle collected items at their stores, to include significant
amounts of food supplies. Through the generosity of local businesses and numerous
volunteers and a local trucking company, they took three semi-trucks and another truck of
goods to the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida where the items were off-loaded
and put on board ship and sailed directly into the heart of the damaged area in the Gulf
Coast. On behalf of the entire community, Mayor O'Grady recognized Jim Reichle and
commended him for his humanitarian endeavors, his work in our community and his far-
reaching efforts to aid the people of the Gulf Coast. Mr. Reichle expressed his thanks
and said there were numerous people who were instrumental in helping him accomplish
this task. He received a Medallion from the Navy Master Chief for his efforts and also
received several to distribute to others who had helped him. He presented one to Mayor
O'Grady and one to Safety Director Limpert. Without the help of the city, the
administration, the Service Department and Safety Director Limpert, he would not have
met the departure and arrival deadlines. The response from the community was
overwhelming.
REPORTS
Mayor O'Grady: 1) Military Support Initiative: Our program of asking our citizens to
donate new clothing in the form of t-shirts or gym shorts/walking shorts, or care
'P~'~iTN'ti-°XNN4
