The motion was seconded by Councilman Limpert and passed
unanimously.
The minutes of the Council meeting of March 1, 2005 were approved as written.
President O'Grady announced the following legislation would be considered for passage
under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinance 2005-19; first reading,
Ordinances 2005-22, 2005-23 and 2005-24.
RED
Mayor Musial: 1) The Metro Parks all-purpose trail on Bradley Road connecting our
sidewalk with the existing all-purpose trail is on schedule with construction to start next
month. Total cost to the Metro Parks of approximately $250,000.
2) He attended the meeting at Congressman Kucinich's headquarters on March 7
regarding the potential loss of 700 jobs at NASA Glenn Research Center. Dennis
Kucinich is putting together quite a coalition to deal with this problem. He is trying to
bring Langley into the coalition because that facility also does a large amount of research.
We have about 157 employees of NASA living in North Olmsted, which would amount
to an approximate $200,000 loss of income tax dollars. Also, we would be losing the
benefits of individuals who greatly participate in the activities of the city. They represent
the fabric, to a large extent, of our community. With these kinds of individuals moving
out, we lose something which really is of immeasurable value. This has got to be top
priority for not only our Congressperson but everybody else that we can enroll in
stopping this erosion of these particular high-paying jobs.
2) On March 14, new fire fighter, Anthony Havel, was sworn in. Anthony is an Eagle
Scout who grew up in Mentor where he played baseball and football for Mentor High
