<br />s <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2009 - 11 <br />BY: Mayor O'Grady <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 137.01 <br />COMPOSITION OF CHAPTER 137 OF THE <br />ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, ENTITLED "DEPARTMENT OF <br />LAW," IN ORDER TO ELIMINATE CERTAIN DUTIES OF <br />THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF LAW -PART TIME, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, as a result of the current financial crisis facing the City, it is necessary for <br />every Department to reduce staffing; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Law that, if staffing is to be <br />reduced in the Law Department, it can be effected without materially affecting the level of legal <br />services provided to the City, its officials, and its boards and commissions, by reducing the <br />duties and salary of the Assistant Director of Law -Part Time, and reassigning those duties <br />formerly performed by the Assistant Director of Law -Part Time, elsewhere within the Law <br />Department; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to reduce the duties of the <br />Assistant Director of Law -Part time, as recommended by the Director of Law, in order to effect <br />a reduction of expenditures in the Law Department; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 137.01 of the Administrative Code, which currently reads as <br />follows: <br />137.01 COMPOSITION <br />(a) The Law Department of the City, as provided for in Article V, Section 2 of the City <br />Charter, shall be headed by the Director of Law. The employees of the Department shall consist <br />of three assistant directors of law, a legal secretary and three law clerks, all of whom shall be <br />appointed by and under the supervision of the Director of Law. Each of the assistant directors of <br />law shall be an attorney in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court and licensed to practice <br />law in the State of Ohio. The law clerks shall be law students at an accredited law school, or <br />graduates from an accredited law school. <br />(b) Two of the assistant directors of law shall be known as, respectively, the Assistant <br />Director of Law -Full Time, and the Assistant Director of Law -Part Time. These Assistant <br />Directors of Law shall primarily assist the Director of Law in the performance of his duties, :end <br />
