CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
RESOLUTION NO. 2001-04
BY: MAYOR MUSIAL AND THE ENTIRE COUNCIL
A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE PROPOSED RATE
INCREASE FOR NATURAL GAS UTILITY DOMINION
EAST OHIO, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AS
AMENDED.
WHEREAS, this harsh winter has already brought increased natural gas bills to
residents and businesses of the City of North Olmsted; and
WHEREAS, natural gas utility Dominion East Ohio has filed for a proposed
rate increase with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO); and
WHEREAS, the proposed rate increase would raise the price of natural gas per
thousand cubic feet from $7.177 to $8.70, minus delivery fees, which vary depending
on the amount of gas used; and
WHEREAS, the proposed rate increase, if approved, would add, on the
average, $27.00 per month to the typical customer's winter heating bill; and
WHEREAS, such a hike in the monthly natural gas bills of residents of the City
of North Olmsted would blow a hole in their household budgets, particularly given the
fact of already escalated natural gas bills occurring as a result of his harsh winter, and
further would be especially disastrous for senior citizens and others on f'viced incomes;
and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and this Council desire to oppose in the strongest terms
possible this proposed rate increase by natural gas utility Dominion East Ohio;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF
OHIO:
