OIL, AN D SAN D INTERCEPTORS", AN D DECIaARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Service Director has iraformed council <br />that the sewer system of the City of North Olmsted has been receiving <br />• excessive amounts of grease from establishments which prepare food, and <br />VITHEREAS, the grease in the sewer system causes the <br />sewer system not to function properly, and « <br />WHEREAS, CounCil in order to protect the' sswer systems <br />for the citzzens of North Olmsted now desire to establish a regulation for <br />the handling o'll grease and other nnaterials from food es±ablishments vvithin <br />the City of North Olmsted, by amending Section 913.20E Chapter 913, <br />Title Th.ree ((:adified Ordinances of the City of North C7lmsted, Ohio), <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Couneil o£ <br />the City af North Olmsted, Ohio: <br />8ection 1. That Section 20 of Ordinance Na. 3158, <br />(Codified Crdznance Section 913. 20 d Chapter 913, Title Three ) <br />enacted November 15, 1960, and entitled, "Grease, 011, and Sand <br />InCerceptor•s" and reading as follows: <br />"Grease, oil and sand interceptors shall be provided <br />when, in the opinion of the Service Director, they <br />are necessary for the proper handling of laquid vvastes con- <br />taining grease in excessive amounts, or any flannmable <br />wastes, sand and other harmful ingrsdients, except that <br />such interceptors shall not be required for private living <br />quarters or dwelling units. All interceptors shall be af a <br />type and capacity approved by the Service Director, <br />and shall be located as to be readily and easily accessible <br />for cleaning and inspection. <br />"Grease and oil interceptors shall be constructed of irnper- <br />. vious materials capable of withstanding abrupt and extreme <br />changes in temperature. They shall be of substantial <br />construction, watertight and equipped with easily removable <br />covers which, when bolted in place, shall be gastight and <br />watertight. <br />°Where installed, all grease, oil and sand interceptors <br />shall be maintained by the owner, at his expense, in <br />continuously efficient operations at all times." <br />I&
