<br />A <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 65- <br />BY <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 337. lb OF THE <br />NORTH OLMSTED CODIFIED ORDINANCES ENTITLED <br />"NUMBER OF LIGHTS PERMITTED; RED AND FLASHING <br />LIGHTS, " AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council has determined that it is in the best <br />interest of the City of North Olmsted that the North Olmsted Traffic Code <br />be reviewed to eliminate any conflicts with provisions of the State Statutes, <br />as enacted by the 1965 State Legislature. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council <br />of the City of North Olmsted, State of Ohio: <br />Section: That Section 337. 16 of the North Olmsted <br />Traffic Code reading as follows: <br />"337. 16 NUMBER OF LIGHTS FERMITTED; RED AND <br />FLASHING LIGHTS. <br />(a) Whenever a motor vehicle equipped with headlights is <br />also equipped with any auxiliary lights or spotlight or any <br />other light on the front thereof projecting a beam of an <br />intensity greater than three hundred candle power, not <br />more than a total of five of any such lights on the front of <br />a vehicle shall be lighted at any one time when upon a <br />street. <br />(b) Any lighted light or illuminating device upon a motor <br />vehicle other than headlights, spotlights, signal lights, or <br />auxiliary driving lights, which projects a beam of light of <br />an intensity greater than three hundred candle power shall <br />be so directed that no part of the beam will strike the level <br />of the roadway on which the vehicle stands at a distance of <br />more than seventy-five feet from the vehicle. <br /> <br />(c) No person shall drive or move any vehicle or equip- <br />ment upon any street with any light or device thereon <br />displaying a red light mounted on the front thereof. This <br />subsection does not apply to emergency vehicles, school <br />buses, traffic line stripers, snow plows, rural mail <br />delivery vehicles, State highway survey vehicles, funeral <br />escort vehicles and similar equipment operated by the <br />Ohio Department of Highways or local authorities. <br />(d) Flashing lights are prohibited on motor vehicles, <br />except as a means for indicating a rig~t or a left turn, or <br />in the presence of a vehicular traffic hazard requiring <br />unusual care in approaching, or overtaking, or passing. <br />This prohibition does not apply to vehicles of the type <br />specified in subsection (c) of this section, disabled vehicles, <br />or machinery required by Section 337. 10 to have a flashing <br />red light.
