A CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO. 65- BY AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 337. lb OF THE NORTH OLMSTED CODIFIED ORDINANCES ENTITLED "NUMBER OF LIGHTS PERMITTED; RED AND FLASHING LIGHTS, " AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the City of North Olmsted that the North Olmsted Traffic Code be reviewed to eliminate any conflicts with provisions of the State Statutes, as enacted by the 1965 State Legislature. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of North Olmsted, State of Ohio: Section: That Section 337. 16 of the North Olmsted Traffic Code reading as follows: "337. 16 NUMBER OF LIGHTS FERMITTED; RED AND FLASHING LIGHTS. (a) Whenever a motor vehicle equipped with headlights is also equipped with any auxiliary lights or spotlight or any other light on the front thereof projecting a beam of an intensity greater than three hundred candle power, not more than a total of five of any such lights on the front of a vehicle shall be lighted at any one time when upon a street. (b) Any lighted light or illuminating device upon a motor vehicle other than headlights, spotlights, signal lights, or auxiliary driving lights, which projects a beam of light of an intensity greater than three hundred candle power shall be so directed that no part of the beam will strike the level of the roadway on which the vehicle stands at a distance of more than seventy-five feet from the vehicle. (c) No person shall drive or move any vehicle or equip- ment upon any street with any light or device thereon displaying a red light mounted on the front thereof. This subsection does not apply to emergency vehicles, school buses, traffic line stripers, snow plows, rural mail delivery vehicles, State highway survey vehicles, funeral escort vehicles and similar equipment operated by the Ohio Department of Highways or local authorities. (d) Flashing lights are prohibited on motor vehicles, except as a means for indicating a rig~t or a left turn, or in the presence of a vehicular traffic hazard requiring unusual care in approaching, or overtaking, or passing. This prohibition does not apply to vehicles of the type specified in subsection (c) of this section, disabled vehicles, or machinery required by Section 337. 10 to have a flashing red light.
