MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> DECEMBER 17, 2013 <br /> Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Limpert, <br /> Kearney, Orlowski, Schumann and Williamson <br /> Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br /> Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Planning/Development Wenger and <br /> Director of Human Resources Farver <br /> Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br /> 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br /> Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance. <br /> The Council meeting minutes of November 6, 2013 were approved as written. <br /> The following legislation will be considered under suspension of the rules this evening: <br /> Second Reading — Ordinances 2013-98, 2013-106, 2013-109 and Resolution 2013-110; <br /> First Reading—Resolutions 2013-113, 2013-114 and 2013-116. <br /> REPORTS <br /> Ni%" Mayor Kennedy: <br /> • NOPEC presented a "fake" check to represent money that has been spent on <br /> energy efficient projects for the past several years in North Olmsted. <br /> • He wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2014. <br /> • On December 10, the Planning & Development Department went live on the <br /> Permits & Code Enforcement module of the Munis software system. The <br /> implementation team was onsite in Building for three days ensuring a smooth go- <br /> live process. Thanks to staff in Building, Engineering, Planning, Finance and IT <br /> for working hard over the last year to have this transition be a success. <br /> • On Saturday, December 14, the North Olmsted Police Department participated in <br /> "Shop with a Cop". The program, in conjunction with Wal-Mart, allowed <br /> children the opportunity to shop for Christmas gifts with members of the Police <br /> Department. It was a very successful endeavor. Next year, the city will <br /> communicate via cable station, website, digital sign, e-newsletter and text blasts <br /> to notify residents to not be alarmed when they see/hear sirens and a procession of <br /> police cars. <br /> • On Tuesday, December 31 from 7:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m., the North Olmsted <br /> Recreation Department is hosting their New Year's Eve celebration with ice <br /> skating, swimming and family fun at the Recreation Center. There will be music, <br /> prizes, games and other festivities. There will also be a balloon drop at midnight. <br /> Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
