MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 5, 2014 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Hemann, <br />Kearney, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br />Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety /Service Glauner, Director of <br />Planning /Development Wenger and Director of Human Resources Farver. <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The Council meeting minutes of June 3, 2014 and June 17, 2014 were approved as <br />written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: First Reading — Ordinance 2014 -51. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• At the Recreation Center, passes on sale now for the new fitness center. Work is <br />well under way on the renovations at the recreation center. Demolition is <br />happening in all areas of the building. The city appreciates everyone's patience <br />with the noise and new traffic routes around the building so far. <br />• The Olmsted Festival of the Arts, presented by the Collection Auto Group, is this <br />Sunday August 10, 2014 at the Frostville Museum. Come down to enjoy a day of <br />music, arts and crafts, market vendors, food trucks, student art and more. The <br />event is free and promises to be the best yet. <br />• The City of North Olmsted is eligible to apply for up to $150,000 in Federal <br />CDBG funds administered by Cuyahoga County. Funds can be used for a variety <br />of housing, economic development and community improvement projects. <br />Residents are invited to attend a public hearing to voice their opinions on local <br />housing and community development needs. The hearing will be held on <br />Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. <br />• The final Summer in the City concert at North Olmsted Park will be Sunday <br />August 17, 2014 starting at 4:00 p.m. Charlie in the Box will be featured; a fun, <br />high energy band. Bring your chairs or blanket and pack a picnic or try out one of <br />the food vendors. Thank you to JoAnn DePolo Studios & Gallery for sponsoring <br />this great event. <br />• Chief Schepp is pleased to announce the North Olmsted Fire Department has been <br />awarded a FEMA Assistance to Firefighter's Grant in the amount of $254,252.00. <br />The grant enables the fire department to replace and upgrade self- contained <br />
