MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FEBRUARY 7, 2017 Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Hemann, Kearney, Limpert, Schumann & Williamson Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Human Resources Director Gallo, Law Director Gareau, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Clerk of Council Massarolo, and Director of Planning & Development Wenger Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The Council meeting minutes of January 17, 2017 were approved as written. The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules this evening: First Reading — Ordinance 2017-18. REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • The annual State of the City luncheon is Thursday, February 16 at Springvale Ballroom. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at Noon. Tickets are available for purchase at the North -Olmsted website. • City offices will be closed on February 20 for President's Day. • The Princess Ball is scheduled for Springvale on Sunday, February 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $7.00 and can be purchased on our website. • The Fish Fry's at Springvale will start March 3 and we will be working with volunteer organizations and encourage people to come out to support them and Springvale. Director of Law Gareau: • At the last meeting, I spoke about The City of North Olmsted v. S.J. Relax Inc. this is the massage establishment operating on Lorain Road just east of Clague Road. The City had filed a lawsuit for an injunction and a preliminary injunction to shut them down unless they had a license. The matter went to a hearing on Friday with Director Glauner and Assistant Law Director O'Malley. The court ruled in the City's favor as to one of the entities, Lorain Relax, Inc., and it's my understanding they will no longer operate unless they have a license in the City of North Olmsted, which they did not have. It is also my understanding at this point they have ceased operations and will be relocating outside the City of North Olmsted. • In Virginia Sopko v. James Saumer: this is the house in the vicinity of Saint Clarence on Lorain Road. It's on the south side of the street. It's a quarter house so to speak. There is just junk all over the front yard.
