MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MARCH 21, 2017 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Brossard, Hemann, Kearney, <br />Limpert, Rahm, Schumann & Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Human <br />Resources Gallo, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Safety & Service <br />Glauner, Clerk of Council Massarolo, and Director of Planning & <br />Development Wenger <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />Council Appointee to the Ward II Council Seat Daniel H. Rahm was sworn in/given the <br />Oath of Office by Director of Law Gareau. A copy is attached to the minutes. <br />The Council meeting minutes of March 7, 2017 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: Second Reading — Resolution 2017-27; First Reading — Resolution 2017- <br />33. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• No report, but do have two young men to swear in, Rory Kummer with the Police <br />Department and Kevin Scholtz with the Fire Department. <br />• The Mayor administered the Oath of Office to Rory Kummer. A copy is attached <br />to the minutes. Police Chief Gallagher thanked Council, the Administration and <br />the public for attending. He said Mr. Kummer is the ninth hire in the past four <br />years. The nice thing about Mr. Kummer is he is a North Olmsted resident who <br />grew up here and both of his parents were very active in the schools and coaching. <br />We are very fortunate to have him join us. It's a benefit to our community <br />because he knows the people and community. <br />• The Mayor administered the Oath of Office to Kevin Scholtz. A copy is attached <br />to the minutes. Fire Chief Schepp thanked Council for the support they give the <br />Firefighters in the City. He also thanked Mayor Kennedy and the Administration <br />for the support they also give to the Firefighters. He also recognized Director of <br />Safety and Service Glauner, Director of Human Resources Gallo and the Captains <br />of the Fire Department and the help they provided with the hiring process. Mr. <br />Scholtz comes from Columbia Township where he was a Paramedic and <br />Firefighter. He is originally from Strongsville, Ohio. What's interesting is we <br />hired a person a few weeks back and during his interview he told us if he couldn't <br />
