MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />NOVEMBER 8, 2017 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Hemann, Kearney, Limpert, <br />Schumann & Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Human <br />Resources Gallo, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Director of Law <br />Gareau, Director of Planning & Development Lieber and Clerk of Council <br />Massarolo <br />Absent: Council Members Brossard and Rahm <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The Council meeting minutes of October 17, 2017 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: Second Reading — Ordinance 2017-74; First Reading — Resolution 2017-77. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• Introduced Carl Schantz to present a check to a representative from the Muscular <br />Dystrophy Association. Mr. Schantz announced in honor of holding a car show <br />fundraiser for muscular dystrophy for the past 30 years, the North Olmsted fire <br />fighters were being recognized for the month of July on the Firefighter's <br />Community Calendar for 2018. He said through the 30 year history of the car <br />show the fire department has been able to donate about $300,000.00 to muscular <br />dystrophy. The money stays locally to help those families in the Cleveland area. <br />He gave a check for $10,681.00 that was raised this year in the four hour car <br />show. The Muscular Dystrophy Association representative thanked the <br />firefighters and the City of North Olmsted for putting on the car show for the past <br />30 years. She said all the money stays locally for many services which are offered <br />free of charge to their families. <br />• Next, three police officers were sworn in: Christopher Kelley, Michael Conway <br />and Jonathan Frantz. The oaths are attached to the minutes. Police Chief Wagner <br />thanked Council, the Directors, Mayor, Human Resources and Civil Service for <br />their support and work. He said Mr. Conway comes from Youngstown where he <br />has had a couple years of experience, while Mr. Kelley will graduate from the <br />Police Academy in March and Mr. Frantz is a recent graduate of the Academy. <br />Chief Wagner said Mr. Conway and Mr. Frantz will go right into an intensive four <br />month program where they will learn how to be a North Olmsted Police Officer. <br />
