CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE N0. 82-73 BY: DEAN McKAY and YVONNE PETRIGAC ` AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NEW SECTION 351.20 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ENTITLED "HANDICAPPED PARKING" OF CHAPTER 351 ENTITLED "PARKING GENERALLY", AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, this Council recognizes that•those who are handi- capped often have difficulty moving about so that it is desirable to establish designated handicapped parking spaces at all public facilities, and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to so establish the policy of setting aside various spaces for handicapped in- dividuals, and WHEREAS, it is also the desire of this Council to provide for handicapped parking spaces on private property wherein handi- capped parking spaces are already designated, and to, at the same time, provide for the designation of handicapped parking spaces in future developments. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION l: That there is hereby established a new Section 351.20-o e?odified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted entitled "Handicapped Parking" which shall read as follows: "351.20 HANDICAPPED PARKING. (a) Special parking locations and privileges for the handicapped shall be provided and designated at all offices and facilities of the City where park- ing is provided, whether owned, rented, or leased by the City. Such locations shall be reasonably close to exits, entrances, elevators, ramps, and each handicapped parking space not be less than twelve by 20 feet. (b) Special parking locations and privileges for handi- capped may be designated at any commercial establish- ment as may be provided by the owner or tenant thereof. (c) The City shall develop a standard sign designating the area as a handicapped parking area which, among other things, sha11 indicate that any other parking shall be prohibited and shall be considered to be a violation of Secti-on No. 351.20. Said sign shall be placed in front of each designated parking space which shall be installed by virtue of, either ?Subsection A or Sub- section B hereof. (d) For the purposes of this Section, only persons who are handicapped as defined by Ohio Revised Code Section 4511.69(H), and who have obtained and dis- played either a special license plate or handicapped parking card from the Registrar of Motor Vehicles in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 4503.44, shall be permitted to park in areas designated for the handicapped as specified in Subsection C hereof.
