WOERPEL <br />f go L'? <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE <br />ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED OF A PROPOSED <br />AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RELATING TO THE EXPANSION OF THE COUNCIL FROM FOUR <br />(_4) MEMBERS ELECTED IN THE WARDS TO SIX (6) MEMBERS <br />ELECTED IN THE WARDS, TOGETHER WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT <br />OF SIX (6) WARDS IN THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant ot the Charter of the City of North Olmsted, <br />and the Constitution of the State of Ohio, this Council has determined <br />to authorize and direct the submission to the electors of the City of <br />North Olmsted of a proposed Charter Amendment, hereinafter set forth <br />in the General Election to be held on November 2, 1982, which election <br />is not less than sixty (60) days, nor more than one hundred twenty <br />(120) days from the date of the passage of this ordinance. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE ZT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO, TWO-THIRDS OF <br />THE CQUNCIL CONCURRING: <br />SECTION l: That this Cauncil hereby authorizes and directs <br />the su mission to the electors of the City of North Olmsted at the <br />General Election to be held at the usual places of voting in said <br />City on Tuesday, November 2, 1982, the following proposal to amend <br />the Charter of the City of North Olmsted: <br />PROPOSAL <br />That Section I af Axticle IV of the Charter be <br />amended to provide for nine (9) Council members, <br />six (6) of whom shall be elected in the several <br />wards, and three (3) of whom shall be elected <br />at large, and by further amending Section VII of <br />Article IX to provide £or the redistricting of the <br />City into six (6) wards. Such amendment of Article <br />IV, Section I and Article IX, Section 7 sha11 <br />read as follows: <br />ARTICLE IV <br />THE COUNCIL <br />SEC. l. NUMBER AND MEMBERS <br />All legislative powers af this City, except as otherwise provided <br />by this Charter and the Constitution of the State of Ohio shall be <br />vested in a Council of nine (9) members, six (6) of whom shall be <br />elected by the several wards, and three (3) of whom shall be elected <br />at large. <br />Commencing with the regular municipal election in the Year 1985 <br />and every £ourth (4th) year thereafter, the six (6) members of Council <br />elected from the several wards shall be elected for a term of four (4) <br />years. Said members of Council elected from the several wards shall <br />elected for a term of four (4) years. Said members of Council so <br />elected shall assume office on the lst day of January next following <br />their election.
