MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED AUGUST 20, 2019 Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Brossard, Glassburn, Hemann, Kearney, Limpert & Schumann Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Human Resources Gallo, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Director of Planning & Development Lieber and Clerk of Council Massarolo Absent: Council Member Williamson Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The Council meeting minutes of August 6, 2019 were approved as written. The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules this evening: Second Reading: Resolution 2019-70; First Reading: Resolution 2019-79 REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • It's Homecoming Week. This year the big tent will feature police, fire and the senior center. The K9 Match will be there, along with SWAT officers and information on the next entry level police exam. Firefighters will be providing blood pressure level checks and there will be information regarding community resources and senior services. • The Ohio Flags of Honor will be at Homecoming this year. It is a traveling memorial honoring the men and women in Ohio who have given their lives in service of their country. Specifically, those fallen in the wars of Afghanistan and Iraq and the War on Terrorism since 9/11. The opening ceremony is Friday, August 23 at 4:30 p.m. and the closing ceremony is on Sunday, August 25 at 11:30 a.m. • Saturday, August 24 at 9:30 a.m. is the Second Annual Fat Heads Brewery 5k. Last year the race raised $21,000 in scholarships for North Olmsted Seniors. Director of Law Gareau: • No Report. Director of Finance Copfer: • No Report.
