MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED AUGUST 6, 2019 Present: Council Members Brossard, Glassburn, Hemann, Kearney, Limpert. Schumann & Williamson Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Human Resources Gallo, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Director of Planning & Development Lieber and Clerk of Council Massarolo Absent: Council President Jones Council President Pro -Tem Limpert called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The Council meeting minutes of June 18, 2019 were approved as written. The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules this evening: None. REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • Due to the exceptional efforts of the Fire Department, the City of North Olmsted has been awarded an ISO rating of three, which is exceptional for the City and its residents, corporations and businesses insurance ratings. Previously the City was a high four. • The Mayor swore in Tyler Counts, John Suchy Jr., and Nick Jacobucci as Firefighters. He also swore in Kevin Zywiec as Lieutenant and Matthew Peters as Captain for the Fire Department. Lieutenant Zywiec and Captain Peters both thanked everyone for their support. Copies of the oaths are attached to the minutes. • The Mayor thanked all of the families for coming out to support the firefighters. Chief Schepp thanked Council, the Administration and especially Human Resources Director Gallo and Director of Safety & Service Glauner. The Chief said the Fire Department uses the hiring process to ensure the candidates are a good fit for the City, not the probationary period. He said the probationary period is to get them to understand the North Olmsted way. Chief Schepp said Captain Peters has some big shoes to fill and Lieutenant Zywiec is a young individual that will continue to come up. Director of Law Gareau:
