MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED MAY 3, 2023 Present: Council President Brossard, Council Members Gilchrist, Glassburn, Hemann, Limpert, Madden, Scarl and Williamson. Also Present: Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones and Director of Law Gareau and Director of Finance Copfer, H. R. Director, Economic Director, Safety Director, Service Director, Recreation Director, Special Assistant to the Mayor, Clerk of Council and guests. Absent: None Council President Brossard called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. ANNOUNCEMENTS The Council Meeting Minutes of April 18, 2023 and the Special Council Meeting Minutes of April 25, 2023 were approved as written. The following legislation was considered for suspension of the rules. On second reading Ordinance 2023- 48 and Resolution 2023-49, and on first reading Resolution 2023-56. REPORTS Mayor Jones: • Mayor Jones swore -in Fire Fighters/Paramedics Andrew Jones, Jacob Novak and Preston Miller. • Mayor Jones presented a Proclamation to the North Olmsted Chamber of Commerce for Small Business Week. • Mayor Jones invited Council to the North Olmsted Recreation Center field house for the second open house regarding the Lorain Road Corridor study, on May 11, 2023 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. • A Community Prayer Breakfast in celebration of National Day of Prayer was scheduled at Old Town Hall, at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4'h, the Keynote speaker will be Chaplain Todd Kirkpatrick. • To celebrate Springvale's 1Wh Anniversary, a Centennial Dance will be held on Thursday, May 18 from 6-9 p.m. Guests were encouraged to dress in the garb of their favorite decade from the 1920's through today. • Mayor Jones will be meeting with Mr. Andrew Kuack, a World War II veteran who will turn 100 years old, to present him with a proclamation. The retired Postmaster for the City of North Olmsted will also be feted at the North Olmsted V.F.W. Post 7627. • "Skating through the Decades" is the theme of the 2023 North Olmsted Ice Show, scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023, and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 20, 2023, and at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2023 at the North Olmsted Recreation Center.
