MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />NOVEMBER 8, 2023 <br />Present: Council President Brossard, Council Members Glassburn, Hemann, Limpert, Madden and <br />Scarl. <br />Also Present: Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones and Director of law Gareau and Director of Finance Copfer, <br />H. R. Director, Safety Director, Service Director, Recreation Director, Special Assistant to <br />the Mayor and guests. <br />Absent: Council Members Williamson and Gilchrist <br />Council President Brossard called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover <br />Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />Council President Brossard congratulated all who participated in the At -Large Elections. <br />The Council Meeting and Public Hearing Minutes of October 17, 2023, as well as the Special Council <br />Meeting Minutes of October 24, 2023 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation was considered for suspension of the rules; on second reading, Resolution <br />2023-124, and on first reading, Resolution 2023-130. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Jones: <br />• The Mayor thanked everyone who ran for North Olmsted City Council seats in the election, and <br />congratulated Paul Shymske, Duane Limpert and Mark Madden on their victories. She also <br />thanked Angela Williamson for her service, and offered thanks to Matt Marrie for running a <br />good race. <br />• Mayor Jones spoke to the regrettable incident on Alden Drive the past weekend, which included <br />both a homicide and a house fire. She informed all that an investigation into that event is <br />ongoing, and the City will continue to assist both the State Fire Marshall's Office and the Ohio <br />Bureau of Criminal Investigation, which are leading the investigations. On behalf of the <br />residents of North Olmsted, Mayor Jones thanked all of our first responders for their bravery <br />and heroism in responding to the events on Alden Drive. She continued to note that the City is <br />saddened by what transpired, but is grateful that the officer involved in the shooting suffered <br />non -life threatening injuries and is at home recuperating with his family. She also thanked all of <br />the surrounding communities, Westlake, Bay Village, Fairview Park, North Ridgeville and <br />Olmsted Township, as well as the state agencies who responded. <br />
