ORDINANCE N0. 83-12 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Beebe & Council as a Whole AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0: 81-21 SO AS TO TERMINATE THE POLICY OF DISABILITY INSURANCE WITH THE PRUDENTIAL INSURANCE COv, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT THERE- WITH AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Council of Mayfield Village enacted Ordinance No. 81-21 on May 18, 1981, which Ordinance fixed the salaries, compen- sation, rates of pay and other terms of employment for the employees of Mayfield Village; and WHEREAS, Section 7 of Ordinance No. 81-21 provides, in part, that the municipality shall maintain, for the benefit of the employees, a policy of disability insurance; and WHEREAS, the aforesaid disability benefit has been rarely used by the employees because it, essentially, duplicates the purpose of the accumulated sick leave provided for in the saic3 Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village have determined that because of the limited use of the benefit together with its duplication of the purpose and intent of the provision for accumulated sick leave time that the policy of disability insurance is an unnecessary expense for the municipality; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THATt Section 1. Section 7 of Ordinance No. 81-21, is hereby amended to read as follows: (New material appears like THIS and deleted material appears like th-is- ) Section 7. Sick Leave. Any permanent full-time employee who has an accumulation of forty five (45) days unused sick leave will be compen- sated at the end of the year for the number of hours not taken up to a maximum of five work days.
