T+dinutes of the Special Meeting <br />April 5th, 195J~ _ <br />The Council met in Special Meeting pursuant to notice on April <br />5, 195, at 8:00 P. lUI., at the Village Hall, Mayer Donald Hodgson <br />presiding. <br />Roll Call: Present - Messrs Swanson, Taylor, Oatess,Endress & Beard. <br />Absent - Mr. Whiting. <br />Mayor Hodgson explained that the purpose of the meeting was to <br />allow representatives of the Redifer Bus Company to explain the proposed <br />bus terminal to be located on the Weisburg property approximately twelve <br />hundred feet north of Highland Road on S.O.M. Center Road. Mayor Hodgson <br />then explained that any action on the matter would necessarily be pursuant <br />to the following procedure: Approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission, <br />public hearings on any action taken, and approval by Council.. <br />Mayor Hodgson thereupon introduced ~. Feldner of the Redifer <br />Bus Conmar~r, who explained their need for larger quarters and the present <br />inadequacy of their Mayfield Heights facilities to care for their increased <br />volume of business. Mr. Feldner stated that the Redifer Bus Compar~y~ was <br />interested in the Vfeisburg property, which is located on S.O.T~Q. Center <br />Road, and that they would convert the present building located on that <br />property to their business: uses: Mr. Feldner then explained that they <br />would include space for offices, garaging and repairing of buses, and <br />storage. A con$rete floor would be incorporated into the building and <br />a hard surfaced parking lot for patrons would be placed in the front of <br />the building. Mr. Feldner also stated that reconditioning of used or <br />wrecked buses would be done on occasion and that used bus sales would be <br />carried on in the 'building, and that it was the intention of the Redifer <br />Bus Company to enter into the field of rebuilding wrecked buses, both <br />for re-sale and for other bus companies. He explained that bus washing <br />was to be a problem due to the fact that water lines; had not been <br />extended to this particular area and that they contemplated either a <br />pond or a system of wells to care for this need. In recapitulation of <br />his prior statements Mr. Feldner stated that every phase of bus maintenance, <br />repair, and rebuilding would be carried on in this proposed.terrunal, and that <br />the Redifer Bus Company wanted permanent zoning for protection of its <br />necessarily large investment. <br />Mr. Feldner then showed Council sketches of the proposed business, <br />and stated that septic tanks would be used for the care of sewage, and <br />that possibly a shed portion in the rear of the structure would be used <br />for the purpose of storage. The sketches showed the size of the parcel <br />of land proposed to be purchased to be approximately eighteen hundred <br />and twenty-six feet in depth with a width of six .hundred and fifty feet <br />at its tivesterly end and a width of six hundred and fifty five feet at <br />its easterly end. <br />
