Minutes of the Regular NTeeting <br />May 17, 195. <br />The Council met in regular meeting on May 17, 195., at 8:00 P.M. <br />at the Village Hall, Mayor Donald Hodgson presiding. <br />Roll Call: Present - Messrs. Beard, Whiting, Oatess, Endress, <br />', ~ Taylor, and Swanson. <br />Absent -None. <br />Due to the resignation of Jack Grootegoed, Mayor Hodgson appointed <br />Miss Betty Dahlgren as Clerk of the Mayor's Court. It was moved by Mr. <br />Taylor and seconded by Mr. Oatess that the appointment be confirmed. <br />Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs. Beard, Whiting, Oatess, Endress, Taylor <br />and Swanson. <br />Nays - None <br />Motion Carried <br />Appointment Confirmed <br />Mr. Edelman, a Notary Public, administered the oath to Miss Dahlgren. <br />Mayor Hodgson appointed Mr. Howard Shilling to replace IU.~^. Brenner as <br />citizen member of the Safety and Service Committee. It was moved by Mr. Taylor <br />and seconded by b~. Oatess that the appointment be confirmed. <br />Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs. Beard, Whiting, Oatess, Endress, Taylor & <br />Swanson. <br />Nays - None. " <br />Motion Carried <br />" Appointment Confirmed <br />' Mr. Whiting, Chairman of the Safety and Service Committee, stated that <br />they had considered Mr. Trebisky's request for the integration of the emergency <br />facilities of the Village of Mayfield and the Boy Scouts, and referred the <br />problem to Mayor Hodgson to consider the possibilities. After such consideration' <br />the Mayor was requested by Mr. Whiting to refer the matter back to the Committee. <br />Mr. Vdhiting also stated that the Committee had considered the problem of the <br />limitation on the hours of the special police. The maximum hours are now <br />limited to 175 per month. The Committee recommended that the maximum hours be <br />increased to 50 per week for the special policeman, Mr. Whiting stated that, <br />due to the fact that some months contained five weeks and some months but four, <br />the 175 hour limitation was not reasonable. Mr. Whiting also stated that it <br />was expected the additional man hours would result in increased revenue from <br />fines, for two men are required to run the speed timer. <br />Mr. Endress noted that the time of the special policemen would be <br />increased by 10-15~. <br />Mr. Edelman stated that the Ordinance limiting the aggregate number <br />of hours worked by the special policemen to 175 per month permitted the <br />limitation to be varied by motion. <br />Mayor Hodgson stated that in his opinion the revenue collected <br />
