<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
<br />THE CITY OF 'NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
<br />JANUARY 2, 1962 - 8:02 P.M.
<br />Present were Paul J. Gareau, Mayor; Bruce MacDonald, President of Council; Henry
<br />Caster, Ralph Christman, James Leonard, Dewey Limpert, A.L. Mangani, Lillian
<br />Nicholas, Francis J. O'Neill.
<br />Also present were Lloyd E. Barnes, Service Director; George Schaaf, Law Director;
<br />James T. Wilson, Safety Director; Alex Kanareff, Engineer; William L. Gerlach,
<br />Finance Director; and Louise Hall, Clerk.
<br />Mr. Caster is now here.
<br />Mr. Mangani moved, seconded by Mrs. Nicholas, that Ralph Christman serve as
<br />President of Council, Pro Tem for a term of 1 year. "Yeas" Caster, Christman,
<br />Leonard, Limpert, Mangani, Nicholas, O'Neill.
<br />Mrs. Nicholas commended Mr. O'Neill for his fine job as President Pro Tem for
<br />the past two years.
<br />Mrs. Nicholas moved, seconded by Mr. Limpert, that Louise Hall be reappointed
<br />as Clerk of Council for the years 1962 and 1963. "Yeas" Caster, Christman,
<br />Leonard, Limpert, Mangani, Nicholas, O'Neill.
<br />The minutes of the meeting of December 19, 1961 were approved as corrected.
<br />Mr. MacDonald thanked the Mayor for arranging the fine ceremony for the Oaths
<br />of Office on Saturday,~~December 30, 1961.
<br />Mr. MacDonald welcomed Mr. Schaaf, Law Director and Mr. Leonard, Councilman
<br />of Ward 1 .
<br />Mr. MacDonald announced the following Committees for the next two years with
<br />the first named acting as Chairman:
<br />Finance: Caster, Mangani, Limpert
<br />Legislative: Nicholas, Limpert, MacDonald
<br />Safety, Health & Welfare; Limpert, Leonard, O'Neill
<br />Public Development and Service: Christman, Mangani, Caster
<br />Public Utilities: Leonard, Christman, Nicholas
<br />Transportation: O'Neill, Limpert, Nicholas
<br />Public Parks, Property and Recreation: MacDonald, Leonard, Caster
<br />City Planning: Mangani, O'Neill, Caster.
<br />Publicity: MacDonald, Nicholas
<br />The Mayor made the following appointments:
<br />Civil Service Commission - Joseph Lombardo - term of 6 years
<br />Recreation Commission - Estelle Sullivan - term of 5 years
<br />The Mayor;:~advised that he would have a list of the rest of his appointments
<br />to Council within a week or ten days for their review before the next Council
<br />Meeting.
<br />The Mayor thanked Mr. MacDonald for his remarks concerning the ceremony on Saturday,
<br />December 30, 1961 and wished all a successful term of office.
<br />The Safety Director advised that the new fire engine has been delivered and
<br />is at Fire Station No. 2.
<br />The Services Director submitted a proposal for Parkview's participation in our
<br />sewer program drawn by him to the Public Development and Service Committee
<br />for their review.
<br />The Service Director read a communication from Congressman Minshall concerning
<br />a federal grant for Municipal Bus Lines.
<br />The Clerk advised that the signed Oaths of Office for all elected Officials are
<br />on file in here. office.
