<br />Present were: Paul J. Gareau, Mayor; Bruce MacDonald, President of Council;
<br />Henry Caster, Ralph Christman, Dewey Limpert, A. L. Mangani, Lillian Nicholas,
<br />Francis J. O~P~eill, George II. Porter,
<br />Also present were Lloyd ~. Barnes, Service Director; C. J. Oviatt, Solicitor; Alex
<br />Kanareff, ngineer, William GerlaF;h, A=aditor; and Louise Hall., Clerk.
<br />The minutes of the regular meeting cf the Council January 19th were approved as
<br />corrected.
<br />The Mayor reported that the Ground Breaking Ceremony for th.e Sewage Disposal Plant
<br />is to take place on Thursday, February lath at 10;30 A. M. and requested as many
<br />city officials as possible to attend.
<br />The Mayor proclaimed the week of February 7th to February 13th as Boy Scout ?~~eelc
<br />~.na tree month of February as I~eart Fund I.onth.
<br />The Mayor stated that he would be attending a Cor~.ittee meeting; pertainin~~~ to
<br />retro City ti^]ide Fire Communication Syste:r~ on February 9th and will bring back
<br />further information on this matter.
<br />The Mayor read a petition from tree North Olmst~;d Chamber of Commerce containing
<br />200 signatures requesting a traffic light at Lucydale and Lorain Rds. This
<br />petition was turned over to trxe Safety Committee for consideration.
<br />The Mayor reported that he will have the Appropriation Ordinance ready early next
<br />week and in the hands of Council members for t'r~eir consideration before the next
<br />Council Meeting.
<br />The Service Director requested authority to take bids for th.e following: 15,000
<br />Ton of Slag, 300 Ton 235 Asphalt, and furnishing of gas, regular, ethyl, diese; and
<br />fuel oil.
<br />The Service Director also requested authority to renew the contract far salvage of
<br />non burnable rubbish for the year.
<br />It was moved by Mr. Porter, seconded by Mr, Limpert, the Solicitor be directed to
<br />prepare the necessary legislation for the Service Director to take bids on 15,000
<br />ton ~ Sla6, 300 ton 235 Asphalt, and the furnishing of gas, regular, ethyl, diesel,

<br />The liayor stated treat the Safety Director was ill and unable to attend and that he
<br />would make his reports at the next rneeaing.
<br />A communication from dir. Oviatt was read. b•;; the Clerk concerning the Hi-Fy Gasoline
<br />Stations, Inc. vs. City of North Olmsted. This matter was referred to the Legislative
<br />Committee hY r•Ir. MacDonald.
<br />Another corrnnp.nication from NZr. Oviatt was read reggr~ding the case of Ernest F. Juergens
<br />vs. City of North Olmsted, This action was dismissed January 20, 1960 for want cf
<br />prosec~ation,
<br />Mr. Mangami reported that the Plats Committee had talked to Mrs. Wissman about the
<br />rezoning of Columbia Rd. and advised that nothing will be done on this matter until
<br />the owners submit a. plan to the Planning Commissimn„
<br />Mr. O~Neill reported that the Finance and Budget Committee will meet with tY~e Mayor
<br />a.nd Mr. Gerlach on Thursday, February ~.th..
<br />Mr. O~Neill also reported that the Tra.rsportation Committee has advised that an
<br />increase of five cents should be made on all bus fares, except school, and requested
<br />a vote of support from Council. on this increase. The committee ~r~.ll meet with
<br />Fairvie~= at their earliest, convenience.
