t <br />? MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />THE CITY OF 1VORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />May 18, 1965 <br />8:15 P.M. <br />Present : Mayor Ralph Christman; President of Council F. J. 0'Neilly Henry <br />Caster; Jack Foltz; Virginia Hodgins; James Leonard; Dewey Limpert; A. L. <br />Mangani; John West, <br />Also present: J. Bruce Kitchen, Director of Law; Del Limpert, Safety-Service <br />Director; Richard Labas, City Engineer; Margaret West, Glerk, <br />Minutes of the meeting of May 5, 1965 were read and approved, <br />Mayor Christman had no report to present. <br />Safety-Service Director Limpert requested legislation for street resurfacing <br />in his written report. He also reported on the difficulty of having abandoned <br />cars removed from private property. He further advised that f requently when <br />subdivisions are reacV for dedication, the developers are not complying with <br />the City's instructions for final improvements. <br />City Engineer Labas reported he has approved the topographic map for Sandy <br />Ridge #1 and the topographic map and improvements plans for Cottonwood Trail. <br />He also indicated that he will be making a final inspeetion of the 1964 <br />sidewalk installations on Friday of this week, and asked to be advised of <br />any def iciencies, <br />Mr, Foltz, Chairman of the Legislative Committee, reported they met May 12th, <br />with the committee members, Safety-Service Director Limpert, Mr. Frank Lord <br />and Mr. Gundy, After discussion of the recommendation of the Board of Building <br />Code of Appeals that aluminum siding be grounded , particularly on older homes, <br />it was agreed to by the committee, and they will introduce the matter under <br />new business. <br />They also discussed the request from the Board of Building Code Appeals re- <br />commending that sewer contractors be required to take an oral and written <br />exatnination to be prepared by the Board of Building Code Appeals. Mr, Lord <br />advised the Building Commissioner that he has the power to establish this <br />type of examination according to the Regional Dwelling House Code manual. <br />Mr. Gundy will review this section and report back. <br />The committee also discussed the $1,000 performance bond required for all <br />contractors, and the possibility of changing to a$500 cash deposit by all <br />contractors, since the City has had some:difficulties with the bonding <br />company recently. <br />Control of loose dogs and cats was discussed, and Safety-Service Director <br />Limpert will establish a'procedure to be used under provisions of the present <br />ordinance, <br />The committee also recommended that the Secretary of the Zoning Board of <br />Appeals add the following statement on variance notices sent to owners of <br />property which is rented to tenants: "The City recommends that you notify <br />your tenant of this variance".
