Minutae were then approved as corrected. <br />Maqor Christman requeated the appointmsnt of Lae Schmitt to the Board of 2oning <br />Appeala for the term ending December 31, 1969. Council wae furniehed with <br />copies of a aheet showing his background and hietory and the Mayor aeked for <br />Council'e approval. <br />Mayor Chrietman also recommend,ad that Council coneider ehanging the $mning on <br />both aidea of Great Northern Boulevard, propmsad. -It now ie zcned for residenti,al <br />on one aide and apartmente on the other eida. He would like to have it all made <br />eommercial zoning. <br />Safety-3ervice Director LiVart regorted he ie going to the Greater Cleveland <br />$afety C6unc£1 ;?o:Acespt an *ard for the. -bus driver$ who placed third in the <br />Courity fsr44fe4riving in 1964, <br />Mr. CRSter, Chairm4n, Public Service and Developmant Committee, reported he will <br />aek for legislation based on the recommendationa of his comnittee ehown in the <br />minutee of the ir laet ineet ing. <br />Mr. Lfa[pert, Chairman, T'ransport4tion Coomittae, reported a committee meeting on <br />Februarq 8th with the Bus Drivere' Committeo ot which they discussed a wage <br />increaee for the drivers and the poeaibility of p4id hosgitaliaation. After <br />an enplanation oE the financial situation of the bus line, with the purchaae <br />of new buaes, the drivers agreed to postpone the matter of raiaea for review <br />later in the year. However, they are etill anxioue for paid hoapitali.iation, <br />4nd Mr, Limpert requeeted that the Finance Cammittee review the poaetbility. <br />Mr. Weet, Ghairman, Finanee Coamittee, reported hia committee met twice with <br />the Finance Director tnd 9afety-Service Director. They diacuesed ahortening <br />the f iremen'e wqrkinAg houre and 4d4ing two f ireman, Action on the matter was <br />poetponed until the budget could be_studied: The committee went over the <br />budgat at both meetings, and when the final budget ie ready, a meeting will <br />be held with Council aa a whole to go cver it in detail. <br />'wl The Finance Comittee aleo took up the matter of pay for the Board of Zonirtg <br />Appeals. At prea+ent they are only auth,ori,zed to pay the secretary for twelve <br />meetings a year, and there ia no money availabZe to pay the secretary for <br />special meetings. The Board aaked if it would be poeaible to charge anyone <br />raqueating a epecial meetiag, to pay for the coet of the aecretary, T'he Law <br />Airector rutled thie could be done.
