. <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED9 OHIO <br />FEBRUARY'2, 1965 <br />8e17 PeM, <br />Present: Mayor Ralph Christman; President of Council Francis J. 0'Neilly <br />Henry Caster; Jack Foltza Virginia Hodgins; James Leonard; Dewey Limperty <br />Alex Mangani; John West, <br />Also present: J. Bruce Kitchen, Direetor of Law9 W. L, Gerlach, Director of <br />Finance; Del Limpert, SafetysServfee Directory Rfchard Labas, City Engineer9 <br />Margaret West, Clerk of Council; James Prokasy, Chairman, Planning Commission, <br />Minutes of the meeting of January 19, 1965 were corrected on Page 7 by striking <br />out "approved, and" in the paragraph relating to the new hf-rise proposed <br />adjacent to the Shopping Center, The minutes were then approved as corrected. <br />Mayor Christman reported that he is proclaiming the week of February 14th to <br />February 20th as National Crime Preventfon Week, an observance sponsored by <br />the National Exchange C1ubs for the seventeenth sazccessive year. <br />The Mayor announced starting dates for the three sewer contracts whfch have <br />been signed, February 8th for Contracts 31A and 33, and February 15th for <br />Contract 31B, <br />Safety-Service Director Del Limpert requested authority to spend $200 for the <br />Safety Award Dinner for the bus drivers and their wives, set for February 20th <br />at the Community Cabin. Councilmen are also invited to attend. <br />Mr. Limpert requested Council approval of the appointment of two additfonal <br />policemen, which would bring the force up to the authorized 25 men, They would <br />be needed for the truck scales, etc. He alsonequested that the Finance <br />Committee study the possibility of hiring two more firemen, for reasons <br />which he will be glad to explain. <br />Mr. Limpert also requested authority to advertise for 300 tons of T-35 asphalt <br />and approxirnately 1500 tons of slag for the year, and suggested that the legis- <br />lation state that these figures are an estimate, and authorize the purchase of <br />asphalt and slag for the year, rather than a set amount, <br />Etlgineer Labas reported contacting ithe new owners of the Sober parcel on Southern, <br />Although they do not wish to sign the Southern Avenue Subdivision plat, he feeis <br />they will consider a reasonable price for the property, <br />Mr. Foltz, Chairman of the Legislative Committee reported they had had no committee <br />meeting, but that he has been in contact with the Assistant Safety Director of <br />Cleveland, with regard to a study of the compulsory retirement of policemene <br />Mr. Dewey Limpert, Chairman, Transportation Committee, reported a meeting with <br />the Finance Commfttee with regard to the bus mechanics' wages. Mr. West will <br />report on that, They also requested two new buses, which Mr. West will also give <br />a report on, The Commfttee also received a letter from the Bus Drivers' Com- <br />mittee, requesting a meeting with the Transportation Committee. Mr, Limpert <br />read the letter. A meeting is being set up for February 8, and the Clerk was <br />? directed to write to Mre Huff, Chairman of the Drivers' Committee, that the <br />Transportation Committee would like to meet with them on Monday, February 8th <br />at 8:00 P.M.
