<br />Present: President of Council Francis J. 0'Neill, Councilmen Caster, Eian,
<br />Hodgins, Limpert, Miller, Prokasy, West.
<br />Also present: Mayor Ralph Christman, Safety Director Del Limpert, Finance
<br />Director William Gerlach, City Engineer Frank Dutton, Law Director
<br />J. Bruce Kitchen and Clerk of Council Florence Holm.
<br />Minutes of the meeting of December 19th were corrected as follows: on Page 2
<br />the name of the Reverend Hugh R. Brownlee, 23460 Stonybrook Drive, to be added
<br />to those who addressed Council regarding equal housing in North Olmsted. The
<br />minutes of December 19th were then approved as corrected.
<br />The Mayor reminded Council of the Twelfth Night Christmas Tree Burning Ceremony
<br />on Saturday, January 6th, at 7:00 p.m., in the area of Great Northern Shopping
<br />Center south of the May Co. He urged all to attend.
<br />Safety-Service Director Limpert mentioned the five requests he submitted to
<br />Cpuncil members, and asked if fihere were any questions concerning the requests.
<br />Mrs. Hodgins, Chairman Public Service and Utilities Committee, mentioned that
<br />this cornmittee is waiting for Mr. West's Financial Committee report before
<br />having its next meeting.
<br />Mr. Caster, Chairman of Industrial Development Cqmxnittee, reported that their
<br />next meeting would be Monday, January 8th, 8:00 p.m. As Chairman of the Muni-
<br />cipal Development Committee, he stated this cotrmittee has decided to have a
<br />"standing" committee meeting night on alternative Tuesday nights from Council
<br />meeting at 8:30 p.m.
<br />Mr. Prokasy, Chairman of Design & Platting, commented that he is very much in
<br />favor of Mr. Caster's suggestion of a permanent meeting date for Municipal
<br />Development and Design and Platting Comrnittees, on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of
<br />the month, at 8:30 p.m. Next week Design and Platting will meet on Monday,
<br />January 8th, at 8:30, but from that time on they will meet on the permanently
<br />set dates in each month.
<br />Mr. Dewey Limpert, Chairman Transportatian Gomrnittee, reported on this com-
<br />mittee's meeting of December 21st, with the Citizens' Committee, in regard to
<br />bus pass rates. Two students from the High School, also attending the meeting
<br />by invitation from Cornrnittee Chairman Ledvina, were able to suppty valuable
<br />information. Safety-Service Direcfior took back infprmation to the Superinten-
<br />dent Best of the North Otmsted Bus Line. Transportation Committee will rneet
<br />with Superintendent Best on January 9th at 7:30, and a new schedule will be
<br />worked out and then printed to give to various schools for the students.
<br />Mr. Eian, Chairman of Safety, Health & Welfare Corrunittee, reported that this
<br />committee had met on the 20th of December, with the Assistant Law Director
<br />Frank Lord, the Mayor, City Engineer Dutton and Dr. Walters of John Carrall
<br />University, to discuss revisions to present Blasting Ordinance. A new rough
<br />draft has been submitted to City Engineer Dutton. Dr. Walters pointed out
<br />three items of primary concern - handling, transportation and storage.
<br />Mr. Eian also said committee agreed on necessity of amending Ordinance 67-287,
<br />and he will give suggestions of committee to Clerk of Council.
