Christman; President of Council Francis J.
0'Neill; Councilmen Henry Caster, Carroll Eian, Jack Foltz,
Virginia Hodgins, Dewey Limpert, Alex Mangani, John West.
Also present: Law Director J. Bruce Kitchen; Finance Director W. L.
Gerlach; Safety-Service Director Del Limpert; City Engineer
Frank Dutton; Clerk of Council Ma.rgaret West.
Minutes of the meeting of May 16, 1967 were approved as read.
Mayor Christman announced a tentative date for the ground-breaking for
the Library as June 20th at 4 P.M. The City is getting ready to adver-
tise for bids for paving of Great Northern.
Mayor Christman also called attention to the clean-up campaign upon
which the City is embarked, and what steps were being taken to make
our City more beautiful.
Safety-Service Director Del Limpert requested Council to consider
purchase of a car for use in the Sanitary Sewer System for somewhere
between $25500 and $2,800. The request was referred to the Finance
Committee for their study and recommendations.
City Engineer Dutton explained his monthly report, which was submitted
in writing.
Mr. Caster, Chairman of the Municipal Development Couttnittee, reported
they reviewed plans for the Sherwood Culvert and recommended that Council
act. Legislation has been prepared and is on the agenda, both a
Resolution of Necessity and Determining to proceed.
Mr. Foltz, Chairman of the Legislative Committee, reported that at their
meeting they studied a request for an increase in the number of employees
in the Service Department. The committee does not believe they can change
the ordinance in question since there is no allowance in the 1967 budget
for paying additional men.
They have agreed to recommend that Article 9, Section 2 of the City
Charter be amended. This in regard to Primary Elections, and they will
request that legislation be prepared.
Mr. West, Chairman of the Finance Committee, reported they held two
meetings. They have decided on a pay range of from $3,600 to $4,800
for a clerk in the Tax Department, this to be an annual rate. They
also recommend a range for the Tax Administrator of between $4 and $8
per hour. As far as they can tell it will be part-time and this is
one way of establishing how much time a man will spend with the City
on this job. They also discussed the raise in the County prisoner
