There will be an anti-litter campaign,
with special emphasis on making Lorain Road more attractive.
The Mayor referred to an announcement made at the last Council meeting
regarding closing of the dump at North Olmsted Park. Arrangements have
been made to have a truck there on Saturdays only, from nine to five,
for the dumping of grass clippings only. All other refuse must be
put out for regular pick-up.
Mr. Caster, Chairman of the Municipal Development Committee, gave a
delayed report on a meeting held April 25th at which they decided to
ask for legislation authorizing the Safety-Service Director to instruct
the Engineer to draw up plans and specifications for sidewalks for the
following: south side of Butternut; completion of Theresa Lane; west
side of Columbia north of Lorain; Dover from Butternut to Lorain on the
east side; South Barton, the east side for the extent of the sanitary
sewer; Root Road; the west side of Canterbury, south of Butternut; Esther
Avenue; Virginia Avenue; Maple Ridge. After the plans are under way,
they will ask that the Engineer advise a time schedule for continuittg
with further sidewalks.
Mr. Caster, Chairman of the Appointments Committee, reported they met
on May 15th to interview a possible replacement for the Clerk of Council.
They have not yet made a decision, and will be holding further meetings.
Mr. Eian, Chairman of Safety, Health and Welfare, reported on their
meeting of May 9th. They discussed in detail the anticipated purchase
of an aerial platform fire truck. They also discussed further the
parking situation at St. Brendan's. They have decided to request legis-
lation to prohibit parking on Brendan Lane from Nine A.M. to Two P.M.
on Sundays only. They then discussed briefly the helicopter port
situation. The Safety-Service Director is checking out some further
information before the Committee makes a detailed study.
