<br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />January 17, 1967 <br />8:04 P.M. <br />Present: Mayor Ralph E. Christman; President of Council Francis J. 0'Neill; <br />Counciimen Henry Caster, Carroll Eian, Jack Foltz, Virqinia Hodgins, Dewey <br />Limpert, Alex Manqani, John West. <br />Also present: Law Director J. Bruce Kitchen; Finance Director W. L. Gerlach; <br />Safety-Service Director Delbert Limpert; Clerk of Council Margaret West. <br />Minutes of the meetinq of January 3, 1967 were approved as written. <br />Mayor Christman reported that bids.were opened for Contrsct 10 sewers, which <br />are Canterbury and Sweetbriar, and it appears at this time that Georqe Haddad <br />& Sons are the low bidders. <br />Mayor Christman submitted the name of Frank Dutton to Council for approval for <br />the position of City Enqineer. He also asked for Council's disposition of the <br />recommendations for appointments to the various boards made at last meeting. <br />The Safety-Service Director requested authority to advertise for approximately <br />400 tons of slag. <br />saw Mrs. Hodqins, Chairman of the Liquor Control Committee reported on their meetirig <br />held January 14th at which Mr. James Koplow, attorney for Lum Lor stores, who <br />explained how their chain of stores worked. Followinq his explanation, the <br />committee voted to drop their objection to the application for a permit, and will <br />so notify the State Liquor Department. <br />Mrs. Hodgins, Chairman of the Public Service and Utilities Committee, reported <br />on the meetinq held January Ilth. They discussed the possibility of C.A.T.V. <br />legislatior, incorporatinq a percentaqe of net profit return to the City, <br />The Committee reviewed legislafiion pertaining to undergrounrJ utilities in new <br />subdivisions, as submitted by the Illuminatinq Company, and approve it. It is <br />now referred to the City Planning Committee for further study. <br />After a review o4 the insufficient street liqhtinq, the recommendations ot the <br />Illuminating Company for increased lumens in existinq lights, and a study of <br />the budget, the Committee unanimously recommends that leqislation be drawn plac- <br />inq a one-mill levy on the ballot in the next qeneral election, to be for <br />additional and briqhter liqhts. <br />Mr. Caster, Chairman of the Appointments Committee, reported that they concur <br />with the Mayor's recommendations for appointments to the vacancies occuring on <br />the various boards, as set forth at the last Council meeting. <br />Mr. Caster moved that Council consider approval of the mayor's recommendation <br />for the appointment of William Scheeff to the Planninq Commission for the term <br />?? .. . _..
