Bruce Kitchen, Ci.tq Engiaeer Mich,el Karhsn, Clerk af Council Nora Hill. Meeting was called to order by Preeident 0'Neill at 8:00 P.M. Mi.nutes of Council mesting of March 2, 1971, were corrected to strike worda "meeting and" an page 2, paragraph 4, lines 1 and 2. 'i'linutes were then approved as corrected. 'Mayor Chxistman reported the followiag: 1) ttad a meeti.ng with Mt. S. Suhajcik, of Cleveland Water Department, ta see if axxangewonts cauld be made to get the informtion aeeded to b31l monthlq and do furthex work with actual water cansumption; 2) re -cosnnunication from Congressawtn Minshall Tiayor Chriatman read the following: "I have been informed bq Congressmsn Minshall that the Env3ranmental Protection Agency has ataarded a construction grant incxesse of $1,127,1$0 to the Citq of North Olnsted for the expaasicm a€ the existing Sewage Trestment Plant. The gzevieus grant awarded last 3uYte imias $380,860 bringing the total Federal Funds to $1,508,440. This grant is 30% of the eligible project cost, the eligib].e project cost being $5,026,804. Tn?hea I received this word I wag quite elated that beeause of this increswe in grant we could reduce the sewer rate to the citizeas of North Olmted. However, upon checkin$ furCher into the entire proposition, and in can- versation with the officials oF the Ohio Water DeveZopaent Authority, I fiad that this is aaly an acknowledgement of what the Citq of Narth Olmsted had been 7ranted t?irough the Ohio Water Develoament Authority in the agreement we reached with them some tmraths ago. The original grant of $380,360 was 10Y of the eligib],e project cost. The State of Ohio, through Bond Issue No. 1 which waa passed in 1968, taas adding an additional 20% ta the grant for a total of 30X grant on the eligible project coet. This announcement simply means that aIl of the money that we are going to Pet in the waq of a graut on the proposed enlargement and oxgs?sian of the Treatment P1ent wi11 come fr4m the Federal Ga'veznment and there will be no direct parti.cipatian in the pro ject with funds fresm the SCate of Ohio.
