MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COt}NCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />NOVEMBER 21, 1972 <br />Present: President Francis J. O'Neill, Councilmen Boehmer, Giesser, <br />Limpext, Prokaey, Beringer, Speedling, West. <br />Also present; Mayor Ralph Christman, Service Director Henry Caster, Law <br />Director J. Bruce Kitchen, Finance Director William Gerlach, <br />City Engineer Michael Karhan, Clerk of Council Nora Hill. <br />Meeting was called to order by President O'Neill at 8:00 P.M. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of November 8, 1972, were approved as read. <br />Mayor Christman reported the following: 1) been receiving minutes of <br />Cuyahoga County Task Force on Solid Waste. Minutes are on file with <br />Clerk of Council for review of anyone interested. At November 14th <br />meeting, Task Force heard proposal from Mike Smith & Associates for rail <br />haul and also high temperature incineration by Torrax. <br />2) read letter from Department of Natural. Resources, dated November 1Sth, <br />stating theq were pleased to forward five copies of their rrceat report <br />entitled "Regional Storm Drainage and Flood Study" covering western Cuyahoga <br />County and eastern Lorain County, including North Olmsted. The Study has <br />been accepted by HUD and could support grant request for implementation. <br />Mayor has sent a copy of report to Mr. Prokasy, Chairman Streets ~ Drainage <br />Co~nittee, as well as copy to Service Director and City Engineer. <br />Service Director Caster reported the following: 1) tJalter Road paving is <br />about 95X complete. This year the City forces have paved approximately <br />11,000 ft. of streets. Service Director Caster requested the Streets <br />Committee take into consideration extending next year's grogram with ~e <br />possibility of putting the paving out for bid. In preliminary comparsculs, <br />it appears that doing Che work with City forces and equipment, it is rutting <br />a few cents a square yard less than the contractor's price. <br />2) re - Stoneybrook - On November 8th, Haddad Bros. started in first area <br />on Greernaood where it was known there were two bad breaks. End result was <br />143 ft. of sewer had to be tarn out and relayed. Three places on Stoney- <br />brook have been repaired. The east ead of Stoneybrook was started oa <br />November 20th and so far have found 14 bad eannections of pipe which is <br />approximately 106 ft. It is going to be a slow process, and Service <br />Director estimates about one-third of area is nok* repaired. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Environmental Control Committee, invited Council <br />Measbers to the second meeting of Southwest Area Councilmen of Cuyahoga <br />County, to be held on December 2, 1972, 10:00 A.M., Berea City Hall. Mrs. <br />Saringer would like other Council Members to attend. On Agenda will be <br />regional recycling and a ban on non-returnablea. Anyone interested to <br />contact Mrs. Saringer by November 27th. <br />~~ <br /> <br />
