O'Neill, Councilmen Boehmer, Giesser, Lampert, <br />Prokasy, Saringer, Speedling, t+~es t. <br />Also present: Mayor Ralph Christman, Service Director Henry Caster, Law <br />Director J. 3ruce Kitchen, Finance Director t~illaam (isrlach, Asst, <br />City Engineer Dave McDermott, Clerk of Council Nora Hill. <br />Meeting was called to order by President O'Neill at 8:00 P.M. <br />r <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of March Z0, 1973, were approved as read. <br />Mayor Christman reported following: Z) received coraa~nication from Mead of <br />State Environaeatal Protection Agency formally advising they have delegated <br />the responsibility for air pollution control to the Cleveland Division of <br />Air Pollution Control. This wall require our appointing a contact person <br />regarding problems here which will be done shortly and will probably be <br />Building Commissioner Ernest Gundy; <br />2) in receipt of coma~unieation from Cuyahoga County Board of Health adviai~ag <br />they are discontinuing the air monitoring stations they have had for the peat <br />several years as of March 29th letting it go wader the auspices of the Cletrelaad <br />Air Pollution Contras Division. Copy of report on shat County has fovaAd aver <br />past two years dill be sent to Council. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairman Em~ironmental Control Committee, commented the Clark <br />of Council received correspondence from Senator Robert Taft and Coeagrassa~an <br />William Minahall regarding resolution Council passed in conneetion with NASA. <br />Mr. Minshall commented that last April, before the Aause Approprataot~s Sub- <br />Committee on Space he attempted to forestall Chis reduction at NASA. <br />Mr. Boehmer, Chairman Public Safety, Aealth & Welfare Co»mittee, reminded <br />this Committee of scheduled meeting on April 5, 1973, at 7:30 P.M., City Rall. <br />Mr. Lampert, Chairman Finance Committee, reported following: 1) Committee met <br />twice since last Council Meeting and discussed request of Service Director <br />regarding sodium aluednate for Treatment Plant and will request legislation <br />for authorization to take bids; <br />2) regarding request of Safety Committee for additional police - an view of <br />substantial increases in wages which hes taken a large portion of appropriated <br />money will hold this reaiust in abeyance until later date. Later in the year <br />will review this request again; <br />3) Finance Committee ~t with Police and Fire Negotiating Comsittee+s on March <br />24th and reached agreement on wages at first meeting. Increases as follc~s: <br />Third year man presently receiving $10,850. per year increased to $11,478. <br />This figure puts Police third year man slightly under Westlake ar~d slightly <br />over Fairview Park. testlake is highest paid conaHUnity of c sties used <br />as an average. Rospitalization increased $130. which pays full portion of <br />hospitalization as it stands now, r~rith understanding that any increase that <br />may occur in carving year will be taken by individuals. Also included eats <br />holiday -President's Day, and made agreement retroactive as of January 1, 1973. <br />
