MINUTES OF MEETING OF TH8 COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OIL NQRTH OLMSTSD <br />FEBRUARY 6, 1973 <br />8:40 P.M. <br />Present: President Francis J. O'Nei11, Councilmen Boehmex, Giessar, Lampert, <br />Prokasy, Sa~ringer, Speedling, West. <br />Also present: Mayor Ralph Chri,stsuan, Service Director Remy Caster, Asst. Law <br />Director Elmer Conan, Finance Director William Gerlach, City <br />8ngiae+er Micha~:l Karhan, Clerk of Council Nora Hill. <br />Meeting was called to order by President O'rieill at 8:t?0 P.M. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of January 16, 1973 were approved as read. <br />Mayor Christman reported the fallowing: 1) he and Service Director Caster <br />attended the Solid tdaste County report. issued on January 23rd at City of <br />Cleveland Council Chambers. Have since received two copies of caa~leta Stsaalay <br />Report on it and suam~ary of proposals. Copy has bean forwarded to Envir tat <br />Control Ccarwittae and copy retained in office should snyone care to review it. <br />There is also being prepared a concise suaaaary of the su®e~trar report that will <br />be distributed soon. Basically the proposal is to let landfill within the County <br />fur next 5 years; <br />2) request Council's feelings on den~lition of barns on Rceap property which have <br />been reported as unsafe, in danger of collapsing and a fire hazard. Have re- <br />ceived three bide ranging from $4,925 to $3,244. Would like to request Council <br />consider emergency legislation to proceed with demolition of these barns without <br />advertising for bids; <br />3) in Cleveland Press tonight the Mayors Cuyahoga County Assn. Transportation <br />Task Farce report was revealed and wi11 be considered by the Mayors Association <br />on February 1Sth. Copies of eame are being prepared for Council. Anq eoaaeants <br />Council would like to make will be carried to the meeting on February 15th. <br />Serwice Director Caster reported the following: 1) re - progress of Treatment <br />Plant Expansion. Zimpra process 23.atpro equipment has been ru tsNs~" for <br />the last week. Today theg were testing the boiler and running the eoagrtas. <br />The micro strainer tertiary treatsaust portion is under the process of being <br />reworked noa. They harre mechanical components which they are reworking making <br />alterations to some of the equipment. It will be six to eight weeks before that <br />will be back into operation. in the old plant the reworking of machinery, <br />components and alterations is nrogressang very well. Expect to have that ready <br />for operation about A;sri1 1st. Cansultans are working on the c~a-eratiaa and <br />additions to the LeHern lift station. Recent findings of the conditidt~ that <br />exist in the area have prompted thea- to re--evalue their thinking in +nagrinR, <br />especially with the advent of Barclap Square developmetet. Should haws plans <br />and specs on this within a month; <br />2) Finance Cvar~ittee in receipt of memos requesting legislation for asphalt, <br />slag, ciciders and salt for next waster season. Have requested legislation <br />to advertise for bids for necessary ~eaterials to repair existie~g storm 73nes <br />consisting of. corrugated metal papa, etc. Would also like to request legislation <br />authorising Service Director to advertise for bids for sodi~ alu~minate for <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant. <br />
