GBgin, Limpsrt, Beringer, <br />Sharpe, West, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Ralph Christm~, L~ Director Michael Gateau, Fin~ece <br />Director William Garlsch, Service Mrector l~nry Cater, Safetq Director <br />Raymond Carnahan, Asst. Engineer David McDermott, Clerk of Council Nora Hill. <br />Absent: Councilman Giesler. <br />Meeting was called to order by President O'Neill at 8:00 P.M. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of May 8, 1974, were approved as read. Minutes of <br />Special Council Meeting of May 14, 1974, were approved as read. <br />Mayor Christman reported following: 1) In City Hall axe applications for Vietnam <br />Vets Bonus; <br />2) On May 25, 1974, Cardinal Mindszenty will be passing through North Olmsted to <br />Cleveland about 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. - interested in getting people out along <br />curbs to welcaee the Cardinal; <br />3) received resignation of Mr. John Maisch, who is moving to Detroit area, from <br />the Civil Service Commission. Resignation is effective as of May 31, 1974; <br />4) house on Canterbury Rd. scheduled for demolition is down and lot graded; <br />and demolition of house on Stearns Rd. to be started toawrrow or day after; <br />5) Council in receipt of Ord. No. 74-75 which shall create position of First <br />Assistant Engineer. Would like to request passage under suspension of rule and <br />emergency. Ia interim while waiting word oa registration of Mr. Norrard Childs, <br />who will be filling position of First Assistant ~gnaer, Mr. Irma Seidel from <br />the City - a registered Engineer in the State of Ohio - would be used as a <br />Consultant to properly aaDet the conditions of the Charter that the ~gineeriag <br />Dept. be headed by a professional engineer licensed in the State of Ohio. <br />Service Director Caster reported following: 1) Messrs. Caster, Weldon and West <br />went to Washington for appoint~at with Dept. of Transportation regarding request <br />for a grant for bus line. Presented preliminary application which was accepted <br />as it is, and were told to proceed with final grant. <br />Mr, Goggin, Chairman Streets & Drainage Committee, reported following: 1) Ccmuaittee <br />met on May 14, 1974. En;giaeering Dept. checked Mrs. Saringer's request to re~rve <br />231st "paper stmt". Engineering Dept. found that if they did xe~ve it - it <br />would landlock two parcels and they recommend that this not be done. Ca~ittee is <br />in agreement with that reconm:endatian; <br />2) new designed Service Dept. work orders have arrived in Service Dept. and are <br />now in use. This should permit faster reporting to Councilmen of outstanding <br />projects: <br />3) Mr. McDermott from Engineering Dept. and Mr. Goggia last week toured every <br />street in City to inspect its condition. Coaittee reviewed the list of streets <br />which are in the greatest need of repair and/or resuxfacing and this list has <br />been forwarded to the Service Dept. for their action. <br />Mrs. Saringer is now present. <br />
