Aoward <br />Childs, Clerk of Council Nora Rill. <br />Absent: Councilman Sharpe <br />Meeting was called to order by President Limpert at 8:00 P.M. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of August 17, 1976, were approved as read; <br />Minutes of Special Council Meeting of Septem~aer 1, 1976, were approved as read. <br />Mayor Christman reported: 1) Council is in receipt of letter regarding the <br />application of the Far West Information and Counseling Center to the Cuyahoga <br />County Commissioners for funding under their portion of the fins received of <br />the Block Grant. They have served well the people in North Olmsted sad Mayor is <br />recomsendiag that we go on record as supporting their application; also, they <br />would like to meet with the appropriate Cosasaittee of Council to explain what they <br />do, and back them in their application for funding; <br />Z)received the resignation of Mr. Jam~ss McCarthy from the Board of Building Code <br />Appeals, effective September 1, 1976, and at this time do not have a replacement. <br />President Lampert referred recom®rendation of the Mayor with respect to letter <br />from the Far West Infoxxation and Counseling Center to Public Safety, Health & <br />Welfare Committee. <br />Service Director Caster commented on a meeting that the Mayor and Service Director <br />Caster attended in Columbus relative to the new bill on Public Works appropriations. <br />There are many projects we could be eligible - mainly a new service garage. Are <br />awaiting additional information from the Federal Gowernnant and as soon as this <br />is presented will pass ease along to Council. Mayor Christman com4wated it may be <br />necessary to mows quickly on this when the groper (ores are received for the <br />application and the funding will be oa a first-come first-serve~.basis. <br />City 8ngineer Childs reported: 1) work on the sanitary serer repair contract ~5 <br />is almost complete - will be finishing the work to install sidewalks tomorrow and <br />that will leave only the replacement of sod; <br />2) the installation of the fence around the Recreation Center site Ras been <br />completed; <br />3) Mr. Childs gave a detailed rundown on the activities the Engineering Dept. <br />has had going and still have under way in connection with the flooding problem <br />in the Forest Ridge Subdivision. Mr. West took matter up in Environarantal Control <br />Committee: a suggestion was made that the Engineering Dept. look further at another <br />possible solution - that of installing atom water retention basins. Have been <br />lookl,ug at same and are hard pressed to find enough land area available to have <br />any hopes of success but tho~ht that possibly by using all of time Wirth Park Drive <br />right-of-way located to the west of Leasing Drive and using the parcel which xas <br />the site of the old sanitary package pleat toxard the north end of Raarpton Drive, <br />and connect them by a large pipe so that retention basins on both sites would <br />function together and act as one big basin that we could come up with a viable <br /> <br />
